Far Cry 3 Outpost Reset and Master Difficulty Patch Out Now

Far Cry 3's Outpost reset and Master difficulty patch is available today, enabling you to return to liberated outposts to play them again and take on a more challenging difficulty level upon completing the campaign, with tougher enemies and more dangerous wildlife.

The patch comes in response to fan feedback, encouraging players to revisit Rook Islands to take on new challenges. It also adds new features to the multiplayer map editor, including new search options, a spectator mode and more. You can check out the patch's features in full below:


  • Outposts reset: after the end of the game, players can choose to reset the liberated outposts to face the challenge to take them over again
  • A new difficulty setting: Players who have completed the campaign can restart the adventure on MASTER difficulty, with more challenging enemies and dangerous wildlife


  • Map Beta Test: Map makers can now start a beta test to monitor how their map is being played using the new spectate feature and regular players are enabled to provide better feedback to help map makers improve their projects.
  • Maps by author: Players will be able to show all the maps created by an author
  • Idle kick: The feature that kicks out idle players during a MP match is removed from custom and private matches
  • The Skip map voting system has been improved with more visibility and time to cast the vote
  • A new mini-game called The Grid has been added to the Outpost website and smartphone apps.

I still haven't finished this game, but I did enjoy taking Outposts. Good idea to let players approach them all again in postgame.

Still haven't picked this game up, but it's towards the top of my must buy list. Gotta clear out the back log first.

Also - Just read that one of the Far Cry 3 lead's was hinting at DLC in the near future.

Coop achievement problems ?

Could you be more specific please. It worked perfectly fine for me but I played it split screen (the game looked terrible but I wanted to play with a friend and not some random person).

The only co-op achievement problems that I have noticed is that you need to be present within the whole level (meaning you need to see the cutscene at the start) to get the achievement to pop. Joining a level halfway through won't net you the cheevo.

They need to add the ability to choose a level on the online co-op, I've been trying to get the last 2 I need but it keeps sticking me in a random level I've already done.

WOW. Literally wondering when this patch was coming after reading Lee Bradley's story what feels like a month ago. Had this earmarked as one of the next games to sell on, but with this I'll keep it around for a while. Might as well finally do that "BOX" map I had in mind.

Once I got 1000 on this I just couldn't get back into it. Im not creative when creating maps. The multiplayer wasn't too great and co-op was boring. The single player was amazing but I didn't have anything really left to do. I hope they make a single player dlc.

I 1000g this a while ago, but really want to play it again once the backlog is done. Found the map editor crap to be honest, so I left the MP alone. Although I may just dip into it and try it out. Would love some SP dlc for it instead of something like new maps. Co op would be aacceptable though.

@8 depends on what difficulty and how many players you are doing it.

On easiest difficulty with two players i say about half an hour each.

so anywhere between 3 or 4 hours is a pretty good estimate.

This is exactly what I wanted. One of the only things that disappointed me about this game was the lack of things to kill once I got all my abilities. Now we just need a dinosaur island DLC for the icing on top.

Master difficulty might raise my replay interest. I flew through whatever the wording was for the highest difficulty level.. I just need those co-ops for the 1000!
