Battlefield 3: End Game releases today for BF3 Premium subs, while non-Premium members will be able to purchase it for 1200 Microsoft Points on March 26th. It adds new vehicles, new maps and other lovely stuff. You can read all about it here.

Here's the Multiplayer Update 6 patch notes:

Game update change list: Tweaks and fixes

  • I love the support this game is still getting after being released so long ago
  • only needed it because it was released broken in the first place, how much more of my harddrive do they want?
  • pfft, had this game over a year and have played about 30 mins of MP. Not worth my time
  • @2 - Get the bigger HDD then... But on topic: glad they continue to fix the issues that come up! Can't wait to try End Game after work!
  • @4 i have the biggest..
  • You call 1.92gb enormous? THIS PATCH HAVES 6GB ON PC! That´s MADNESS!
  • @2 You know you could always put BF3 content on a USB stick.
  • @3 so why are you even commenting on the damn post!?
  • wheres the bacon skins for my m16......lol and yes @6 6gb was my most recent patch for pc version its ridiculous
  • Can none of these fixes be done server side? I agree with #2 - HDD space this game takes is becoming excessive. I have a 320Gb hard drive. I still think it's pain. Seems to happen in a lot of EA games now. GRFS, NFS, BF3.
  • @3: pfft, been on x360a for over 3 years and have made 6 posts. Not worth my time
  • It could be that they don't have enough space on the disc and they don't want to ship anymore discs with the game. But what about people who have 4Gb? Yes it's easy to tell them to "Get the bigger HDD then". That's not the point.
  • @8 because I liked the single player, short as it may be, and I keep an eye on the games i have @11 who said i wanted your time? My number of posts is irrelevant
  • I love Battlefield 3 don't get me wrong. But that's almost 30GB of memory used JUST for Battlefield 3 now. 30GB!
  • Will delete this massive game as soon as I complete it. This takes up way too much space, it's ridiculous.
  • Wow I am not sure why they make everyone who has the game actually download the DLC (disguised as a patch). Kinda dumb there has to be a better way to do it. What is the game up to now in total? Like 9 GB for the game, 14 GB for the DLC and patches? 25 GB???!?!?
  • I don't quite understand this model DICE has for BF3 where every person with the game is required to download the DLC content. My connection is 512 kbit ADSL and it takes me approximately 4.5 hours to download one gig. I have not purchased the BF3 premium pass nor any of the DLCs individually, yet I have been forced to spend at least 50 hours of my life downloading every byte of the expansion content that I do not use, and will have to spend 10 more hours downloading this one. I can't join any match using any of the expansion content, so what is the point of requiring me to download each one as it releases?
  • You really think 1.92GB is enormous ? Don't even look up how much it is for the PC version. I'd bought a 64GB M4 SSD back when they were still quite expensive (95€) to be able to load up the games much faster (with a classic HDD it could take up to 5 minutes if not over). A week ago I noticed my SDD was almost full. Turns out BF3 weighs much more than it used to and unless using the SDD exclusively for BF3 and putting win8 on my HDD I didn't have enough space for this update. So yeah, if you feel that BF3 eating up another 2GB off your 250GB HDD is harsh think about the pain of it eating up so much space that you have to put it on your PC's HDD instead of your SSD which you'd bought mainly for it.
  • @17 They don't. What you're downloading now (1.92GB) is a multiplayer update that fixes some glitches and tweaks stuff. I believe they release the multiplayer updates at the same time as the DLCs because of Microsoft's fee for uploading a game's update on XBOX. People who download the DLCs have to go to the game's shop accessed from the game's menu and then chose the right DLC and confirm purchase to download it. Even with premium you don't have to download any DLC content to keep playing. Why wouldn't you buy premium if you enjoy the game though ? It probably gives you over twice the number of modes/maps for the price of the original (vanilla) game. I rarely ever play on the first maps as I have much more fun with the DLCs (at the exception of AK which I don't like, I only enjoyed the ATV).
  • "Fixed incorrect spelling on Aftermath dog tags." lol, classic. Reminds me of the WCW stationery that said "Altanta, GA"
  • @12 Yes, the game weighs a lot but if anybody serious with gaming (not a family mother who only plays kinect fitness and family games) gets a 4GB XBOX then they probably don't deserve an update anyway. Even if you don't install the game's to your HDD because you don't mind the noise the discs make you'd have to be stupid to get the 4GB XBOX. Game's get updated and gamers know that. @16 What's dumb is that somebody as serious about video games as you are (200K :gsicon: and 1600 comments) would actually say something like that. Read @19. @Admins: make it so I can edit my comments or tell me how to if it's already the case. Triple posting is a bit excessive.
  • Dice have always done this with DLC/ patches. They release part of the DLC combined with a MP patch/update and then the rest of the DLC is purchased desperately and is usually around 1.5 GB, the did this with Bad Company 2 as well when its last Map Pack and the Vietnam expansions came out, its just easier.
  • Loving the support but OUCH! that's another big update.lol Anyway hopefully it does something.
  • The space it requires is pretty sickening. There is no need for them to bundle the maps with the update (they do this as I got a couple of the packs separately and was surprised they were only 100kb downloads). People that dont want it should get just the update. Including game install this thing takes up over 40GB on the HDD
  • Can you actually delete all the previous updates after downloading the recent one? My BF3 takes up almost 30GB.. wtf lol
  • @25 No, you require all the updates for it to work, mostly because they're tied to DLC and new features like rent-a-server and stuff like that
  • @17 The reason you have to download all the updates is everyone has to have the same game content to play together on LIVE, as far as I know all games are like this. Microsoft charges money for every update to the game unless it's added with paid DLC. If you don't have the same content as the other person through updates you won't be able to play with that person or see any of the new content like weapons and dogtags people are using from the DLCs, or have any exploits fixed or changes to weapons updated, which could give people an advantage if they nerf one of the weapons and you don't download the update but other people have.
  • @19 Bull. The updates include the DLC too. Patches like this take a few mb at most for all other games. The reason BF3 ones are so big is they force everyone to download the DLC regardless of if they purchase it or not. I don't really care if it's a bigger "patch" on the PC. PC HDD space is a lot easier and cheaper to increase. I could get a 128GB SSD or 2TB HDD for the same price M$ charge for a standard 320GB HDD. And getting external drives isn't much good thanks to the size limit M$ has put on the Xbox (because they know they overcharge for the offical drives and they wouldn't sell any if a bog standard 2TB external drive could take it's place)
  • Before that huge GoD sale, I had 40 GB of space. Now, after deleting about 15 GB of finished DLC, I have 800 MB. I can't wait to finish BF3 and remove all 20+ GB of it off my hard drive.
  • @19 I have to download each MP update as it comes or I can't play -- it's happened with every release. Combining the expansion content and multiplayer tweaks so they only upload and pay for one item is just them minimizing the monetary cost to themselves at the cost of my time and bandwidth. As for Premium, it's fifty bucks, which is the price of another game altogether. I've simply opted to buy the other game over BF3 Premium. @27 Not necessarily, I've played plenty of games with optional downloadable content, and I've known people I've played with in non-DLC maps who own the DLC. The only "compatibility" that existed was that I could not search for (or play on) the downloadable content maps. This is still the case with BF3, but I'm required to download all of the expansion content anyway. I understand the need for universal patching, but DICE can and could have released the multiplayer patches separate from the DLC content.
  • I'd rather have a 6GB on the PC than 2GB on Xbox. I've got 3TB of storage on my PC but only 120GB on my 360. Percentages are a LOT different.
  • You'd have to be stupid to buy the 4GB console in the first place. Is it not so obvious that 4GB would not last long? Downloading now...
  • @27 If the DLC were just map packs that would work, but by releasing the patches seperate from the DLC content, people with the DLC would not be able to use the DLC weapons on the original maps unless they were only playing with other people who had the DLC. If you don't have any of the DLC and I kill you with a DLC weapon, your console wouldn't be able to register the weapon because that content isn't on your console, which means the community would be split into 2 groups. I guess they could break the DLC into seperate content packs like one DLC has weapons/dog tags and another has the maps/vehicles, but then EA might charge more for the DLC that way because it's not as easy or cheap for them to do it that way.
  • Meant @30, not #27. Sorry for double post.
  • The massive patches were part of the reason I barely played the game. I'm still using an old system with a 60 GB hard drive. The game just takes up too much space which is made even more annoying since it's not a game I play all the time.
  • lol why anyone would own a 4gb xbox and expect to play this game is just beyond me...in a weird twist of fate i feel that this game although ridiculous in size is worth every byte of memory as its just an amazing game of which ive never played anything like it (online) and will be being played for many more years to come just as BF2 was/is
  • But my rockets will still disappear in mid flight when i die and fire modes on my gun will switch on their own when i die...can we add a new specialization with grenades that actually explode too? Tired of throwing a grenade and staring at the indicator for 5 mins before it explodes and shooting a rocket at someones face only to have it mysteriously vanish when i get killed. Bullets dont disappear when u die...
  • insists??!?! dont you mean "ea says you cant play our shit unless you have all 19gbs of the game downloaded!" doesnt matter ima premium user anyways. so i guess i HAVE no choice....
  • @3 thanks for sharing, not sure who cares but thanks. they should of released 6 as a include all and reduce the need for the other downloads my install is now 24g due to updates for each dlc.
  • What I don't understand is (and correct me if im wrong) but why on earth do we have to download not one but two updates both weighing in at around 1.9gb each just to play this dlc. When I logged in today, i found that I had to download one update (MP Update 6) from the marketplace at 1.92gb (okay fare enough) but then it asks you to download another update at a similar size (End Game) from the in game store. What's wrong with just combining the two together! No update that I've ever seen takes up 1.92gb just to make a small amount of fixes, (believe me that's not a very big list) and then it asks you to download a second 1.9gb update that actually allows you to play the damn thing in the first place. What's the deal DICE, EA?
  • Just so you guys know you there are some updates you can delete. Here's a guide I found, should free up about 7 gigs from your HDD: http://www.gamespot.com/battlefield-3/forum/bf3-updates-faq-64838124/
  • "Seems to happen in a lot of EA games now. GRFS, NFS, BF3. " There were some Fight Night ones that were ridiculously massive.
  • @2 You shouldn't have to get a bigger one. I stopped playing because of all the updates. They include the DLC within the update which honestly isn't fair if you're not buying the DLC and just want the update. They give you no option at all.
  • @27 okay example of a game that doesn't make you download massive updates. Black ops 2. People without the current dlc didn't have to get a huge update and yet they can still pick up the peacekeeper if found on the ground. So dice should not have to consume your hard drive with a massive update just because they are cheap. Just sayin.
  • On a 250GB or even a 120GB the 20 so GB it takes for BF3 is nothing, why do people piss and moan about the slightest things, it's a huge multi-player game obviously the maps will take up considerable space you clowns. How can people even compare a COD update to a BF one as well, it's been the same game for about 5 years no shit the update will be tiny because nothing has changed, yes @45 i'm talking to you.
  • ^^ This. Boo effing hoo.
  • @46 okay then compare to a rpg. Skyrim downloaded to hard drive plus all dlc doesn't even eat as much. And rpg games are way more complex than a fps. And I have a 250gb hard drive I just don't see the need in making people download a dlc with a update if you don't plan on buying it. I mean seriously what's the point? Only reason it bugs me is because it takes up more room then it needs to. If I was going to spend money on dlc for it I wouldn't care but considering new consoles will be out this year I don't thijnk bf3 dlc is worth the money. Plus I just got it last week and it ate 20gb after making me download a bunch of bs for an hour. Oh and the shortcut dlc stuff and the fact thatserver admins can kill you just cause they want to kinda makes the game seem stupid at times. I do however love sniping on bf3 I think my longest headshot is 307m with a sv98. Lol
