EA has announced the release date for Insomniac's vibrant co-operative shooter, Fuse over the weekend, tagging the game for launch at the tailend of May. As well as nailing down the date, some Fuse pre-order bonuses have also been unveiled.

Bringing together covert Overstrike-9 agents, Dalton, Naya, Izzy and Jacob, Fuse boasts 4-player co-op action with each character granted with their own unique fuse-powered 'xenotech' weapon. Pre-ordering the game will grant various weapon bonuses as detailed below:

The pre-order bonuses include:

  • Four Hyperion Prototype Agent Armor Skins - Upgrade your agents’ look with four special, state-of-the-art armour skins discovered inside the top-secret Hyperion Base
  • Four Hyperion Prototype Weapon Skins - Customise your Fuse weapons with four skins based on each of the original prototypes developed inside Hyperion Base
  • Quickdraw Team Perk - Increase your damage with this team perk adding powerful Fuse elements to all one-handed weapons for all four characters in your squad

Fuse will be coming to North America on May 28th before launching in Europe on May 31st. You can find out more about Fuse in our latest hands-on preview and interview with Insomniac CEO Ted Price.

Since there aren't too many great co-op games right now for me and my friends to play, I'll be waiting to see how well this does. Even if it doesn't do well and we get it in a bargain bin a few months from now it'll be a lot of fun I'm guessing.

Every time I see the word "Hyperion", I think Borderlands.

Back when this was Overstrike I was excited. Will wait to see what the reaction is after it comes out though.

@4: Hyperion, Reapers, Paladins, Terra Nova
Some of the most overused names in fiction.

Preferred this when it was a CGI trailer that resembled a Saturday morning cartoon rather than a game with actual gameplay and a release date. Boo to this change.

Not sure I've ever been less excited for a game that purports to have such great co-op. Gears of War: Insomniac.

Well....we can thank the focus group, consisting of 12-year-olds, for the change in design. Looks generic as hell now.

This game has gotten my attention enough to keep tabs on it, but not much else. It'll have to get phenomenal reviews or me to pick it up before a price drop.

#10: So not vibrant and creative platformers in Spyro and Ratchet & Clank, but Resistance, Insomnaic's dullest piece of shit output to date? Gotcha.

#14: Your insights?

I hope it has local co-op and not just online co-op.

#16: We're talking about a developer, not a genre.
"the creators of resistance", Y'know, Insomniac?
Like how you switched from "not seem to be as good", to "clearly going to be worst". Based on what exactly? Screenshots? The idealised product you had in your head after watching a 2-minute CGI concept trailer with zero public evidence to show it was ever anything more?

Suggest everyone calling this game generic look up the Dalton's Rules trailer, which has gameplay, instead of judging the game by some screenshots.
