I believe this is a good thing. For too long people have been made to pay more on top of an overpriced game. Here's an idea. You have a standard edition, sealed, and new. Include a season pass. Then those who buy it used have to buy the season pass to play the extra content. Much fairer, and developers get supported. Don't make someone who's bought your game new, paid £40, and then played it, pay even MORE money. Games companies are millionaires. End-user gamers are not.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:42 AM
I think it's sad but just in part, this should be an example of how games are supposed to be developed, no microtransactions nor season pass which let's be honest the only purpose of that is to milk the customersTuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:43 AM
To be honest, that almost makes me want to support the game solely because it has no Online Pass or Microtransactions so EA could maybe see that a game with none of that actually does well. Unfortunately, I don't know what this game is since I haven't been following it.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:43 AM
But is it any good?Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:44 AM
Even though Fuse looks like a pretty fun game, im not sure it will sell extremely well. So I think this is all a nefarious plot by EA. If Fuse doesnt do well in sales, EA will be like "look, see we tried no online pass or micro transactions and it didnt work out". Corporate Conspiracy.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:50 AM
It's a trap!Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:51 AM
Day one, just out of principle. if this doesn't make any money, then you can kiss good-bye to then ever doing this again.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:58 AM
It's pretty sick when we feel the need to support a developer when they're telling us there won't be unethical business practices involved in their game. Like their the only ones not doing it?Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:00 AM
There is a demo announced too. Coming "closer to release".Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:05 AM
I don't know what the hell this game is about, but I will buy it day one to contribute to a commercial success. If that's what it takes to get EA back on track, I'm willing to risk it... FOR THE SAKE OF MIRROR'S EDGE 2 !!Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:07 AM
This is a GREAT thing. It would be nice if the whole season pass thing was a fad that would just go away. I don't see it happening, but I'm hopeful.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:08 AM
I think it may be a test of #s. If the game sells then I dont think it will be included later. But if it doesn't sell well then I think it will be put in to get extra money out of it.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:12 AM
I may buy this game just for this lol.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:16 AM
This game looks like FUN! I hope it is good as my interest in games has been flagging recently. Plus I agree with # 7 Stuart.... we need to support this MO :)Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:19 AM
I may get this game because of this. Looks fun.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:23 AM
Might get it new just to prove a point. And I like shooters.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:26 AM
The whole online pass thing is redundant as a feature. So what if people pirate games or buy them used. Whenever a game enforces an online pass in order to play, it makes it so my friends can't rent it to play it with me, or buy it cheap later. So I lose out and therefore I don't play it myself. People will pirate games regardless, if you prevent them from playing your game then they just won't bother. In my eyes I would much rather publish a game that allowed anyone to play it, because how are you going to sell a game that nobody has played because of so many restrictions. Think of it more as marketing. The more people that play it, the more people can tell their friends how good it is and to buy it. Besides, when a game or movie is that good, people want to buy it legit anyway.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:27 AM
Good on Insomniac, though in general I don't like the direction the company is taking right now.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:31 AM
sounds good but too bad it's a norm in today's game and if they want to stay in the biz they gonna have to do it.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:45 AM
EA's CEO released a response last week to them being nominated for the worst company in the US addressing online passes and microtransactions, which basically read we're sorry you feel that way but we are right you are wrong. With M$ seemingly flipping it's customers the bird as well at the moment it's a bad time to be a gamer. It's good to know companies like Insomniac and CD Projeckt are on the gamers side at least.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:48 AM
To me this just says that there is no real DLC planned for this game. Which is fine, by the way, as not every game needs DLC post-launch.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:56 AM
@21 - I was going to say the same thing. I wonder if no season pass translates to no post launch DLC support period. I guess time will tell.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 07:57 AM
Definitely a good thing, they aren't saying never to DLC.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 08:01 AM
This game still looks "meh" to me so I probably wont buy it. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip the whole next gen and just buy a PC gaming rig, I'll be saving money for years to come.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 08:12 AM
Good, there are too many games with a shitload DLC. Often costing more then the original game. Wish DLC was never invented. And don't say you would miss out on stuff. The game would be finished and all content would be included. F*ck I hate DLC and season pass crap. Only makes me not want to buy a game.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 08:44 AM
Something seems wrong here, i swear i see the letters EA and the words no microtransactions. i think my brain melted.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 08:55 AM
@25 it makes you not want to buy it yet im almost sure you still buy the game so stop complaining.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 09:37 AM
I think the article title is confusing "Season Pass" with "Online Pass."Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 10:01 AM
*Presses cmd +f* *Types former title of this game* *Dies of shock*Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 10:07 AM
EA really are devious bastards, if what @5 says happens and no-one buys it they will say it failed because of no pass/microtransactions. If everyone buys it day 1 on principle like a lot of people on here are saying, then they rake in the money. So for them its win-win. And the game will probably be shit, damn their eyes!Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 11:09 AM
Would've bought it anyway.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 12:56 PM
God daym I need to get in on this money making schemeTuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 01:14 PM
It's sad this is actually news don't you think?Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 01:28 PM
Respect. And the game looks really fun fun in Co-op.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 01:35 PM
It looks like I'm might have to lift my EA game ban for this one. It looks awesome, and it lacks things I hate. Hopefully it'll send a message to EA.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 02:09 PM
I don't like buying EA products either way. If it's not introduced now, it'll be introduced later, somehow.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 02:59 PM
"Nope. But, you should still buy it new to support us because there are no microtransactions to make up for it, though. :D".... "...though, we will be releasing overpriced dlc to make up for the loss of microtransactions beacause we're tight fisted bastards and only care about milking as much money out of your pockets as possible"Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 03:15 PM
The game probably sucks and EA knows it, so they're not gonna force a Season Pass or microtransactions. Only explanation I can think of.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 03:37 PM
It's kind of funny, actually. I hate online passes. But when a genuinely good game comes out with no online pass, like the Witcher 2 for example, it makes me want to buy it new even more just to support the devs anyways. This game is coop and the devs have made two other amazing game series', so I expect it to be good.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 06:00 PM
THANK YOU!Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 08:08 PM
Good to hear there will be no online pass. I've been reading about this game and I'm thinking about trying it out when it releases. Glad to see Insomniac coming to the 360.Tuesday, April 09, 2013 @ 11:13 PM
Hours after EA is labeled worst company in America two years running.Friday, April 26, 2013 @ 03:50 PM
THANK GOD!!!!!

Fuse developer Insomniac Games has revealed that the game will not feature microtransactions or have a Season Pass.
Insomniac posted the news as part of a short Q&A on Fuse’s official website. In answer to the question “Online pass?,” the dev answered, “Nope. But, you should still buy it new to support us because there are no microtransactions to make up for it, though. :D”
It’s quite a surprise, as Fuse is published by EA. Not only is EA public enemy number one among many gamers, they’re also the most aggressive proponents of further charges for premium games.
This news is kinda depressing, though. When we’re publishing news to celebrate what a game doesn’t feature, rather than what it does feature, something has gone a bit wrong.
