Ubisoft Montpellier has used the extra time afforded by Rayman Legends’ switch to multiplatform to create 30 extra levels and new boss battles for the game.
Rayman Legends was originally a Wii U exclusive, but when Ubisoft took the decision to bring the game to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, release was delayed by seven months.
And while Nintendo fans got their knickers in a twist about it - and even Rayman creator Michael Ancel protested the decision, fuelling rumours that he was to leave the company - the extra development time has been used wisely.
Senior Game Manager Michael Micholic said, "Trust me, the things we are adding aren't minor. We're not talking about adding some polish here and there, but 30 new levels and several new bosses."
Regarding the delay, Ancel added, “It was really hard for us. Of course, there are more important issues and problems in the world but we worked really hard to make something and were so involved, it was difficult for us and the fans."
Rayman Legends is out in September.
