Dead Island: Riptide
Dead Island: Riptide Launch Trailer is a Bloodbath

They thought they'd escaped, but they were wrong. Dead Island: Riptide sees the survivors of Banoi getting as far as Palanai, before getting embroiled in yet another zombie apocalypse, this time with monsoon weather and flooding thrown in.

With the game launching in North America today, Deep Silver has released the obligatory trailer to coincide with the launch. As you'd expect, the video is packed with wall-to-wall zombie slaughter, with melee weapons and guns both being rolled out.

Give the launch trailer a watch below. Dead Island: Riptide launches today in North America and will be heading to Europe on April 26th.

Don't play the first one, it was crap. If you like melee'ing zombies 50 times before they die then this game is for you.

The zombies are total bullet sponges as well, I don't get the need to have "levels" for the zombies either. So they always stay the same level as you. You are supposed to get stronger but by the end of the game it still takes 20 hits to kill a single damn zombie.

This game looks too similar as if it were just a DLC that adds rain. They really messed up the "rpg" elements last time and this looks to be no different.

I say stay away or wait until it is bargain bin $10 in a month.

Not worth it, no improvements from the first game.

I got to play it for a few hours. There is more quest variance and fewer glitches. If you liked the first, it's fun. A bit more of the same, but good times, for sure.

I'll be waiting to hear the reviews on this before buying it tbh, i love zombie games, but wont pay full price if it isn't worth it. The first was enjoyable, but could of been better, i never had any glitch issues luckily.

I enjoyed the first game despite its issues. I'll pick this up even though its just as flawed as the first.

I got fucked by the save glitch in the first one, but overall still a great game. I normally wouldn't pick this one up, but for $50 and to play with my friends it's worth it.

I was hoping for something as amazing and powerful as the trailer for Dead Island. Did I miss one or is this the best they could come up with? :(

While I did enjoy Dead Island, there doesn't look like much difference between that and Riptide. Will get it when it's much cheaper I think!

I enjoyed the first game even though it had some issues. But I am not a 100% sure about this one.

Little surprised at how sceptical people are being towards Riptide tbh and I couldn't disagree more with no.2 in regards to the first one. 50 melee hits to take out a zombie? Clearly not true. I thought the game was fantastic, a true survival game with a fair bit of freedom but thats just my opinion. As for Riptide, it does look like an expansion to me but I honestly couldn't care, more of the same please!

@10 I couldn't agree more. More of the same isn't be a bad thing in this case. I loved the original Dead Island. People don't seem to moan that every Halo and Call of Duty game is a carbon copy of the previous release. I'd take a zombie RPG over a mediocre point and shoot game any day...

@10 & 11 I wholeheartedly agree with what both of you are saying, @2 just plain must never have used the analog controls properly or was just crap at it! With Xian (sharp weapons expert) you could easily one hit most zombies in the first one (even on higher levels) if you got used to the analogs, cos it was so precise; one quick swipe across with a flaming cleaver, samurai sword or axe and the zombie's head would fly off with a satisfying arc of blood and a squishy thud. Sure you couldn't 1-hit the giant brutes or whatever they were called (the huge straight-jacket charging guys), but you were SUPPOSED to dodge them and wail at their back... and even if you missed the 1-hit decapitation on a zombe, with a decent poison weapon they'd just sit there retching their guts up andyou could dispose of em at will!

I hope they fixed the guns tho - they were almost beyond useless in the 1st one, even with the firearms expert, but in my house we had hours of fun playing 3-player co-op and going through it all together... and it probably helps my perspective on the game that none of us experienced any of the glitching/corruption that other people complain about...

I never had any glitch problems in the first one. Maybe I was just lucky? I enjoyed quite a bit. I will probably get this sometime.

Quite enjoyed the original (though I did feel pretty burned out towards the end). Doubt I will pick it up at launch but will no doubt check it out once it is around 15quid.
