"Defy the depths of darkness." Or just kill a load of monsters. Either way you'll be returning to Dragon's Dogma's myriad mythical beasts, chopping them up with your Pawns in Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, which adds all-new content to Capcom's sweeping RPG.

An epic and fantastical adventure, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen adds Bitterblack Isle to the game's world of Gransys, integrating a network of long and winding caverns filled with a host of new dark and malevolent creatures to slay. There's a whole bunch of other bonus content in there too.

Out today in North America, you can check out Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen in the launch trailer below. The game will be out in Europe on April 26th.

@1 it looks like there are no new achievements whatsoever,no new 1000 list and none for the added parts in the game, which is pretty lame from Capcom IMO

so technically,I already have 1000/1000 for this and have yet to pick it up :(

I loved the original and had this on Preorder since it was announced, I won't miss out on a game just because it doesn't add new achievements.

But I canceled my order today as I'm just not in the mood to play it, so I'll pick it up later.

I have 1000/1000 on this game but thats not stopping me from pre-ordering, a game does not have to have achievements to make it worth playing, DD is by far one of the best games that i have played lately so if you havent played it, you should :)

Loved the original though still have the Ur Dragon achievement left. Used the original as a trade-in to fund this new one. Still really wished there were at least some new achievements to push me to play the new content. :

@10 Yea, offline is no doubt how I'll be getting Ur done. I'm personally looking forward to the pawns shutting the fuck up finally, lol. Much like AngryJoe I was constantly yelling at the screen to for them to "shutup!" http://angryjoeshow.com/2012/05/dragons-dogma-angry-review/

What has gaming become when achievements are more important than fun gameplay and depth. There really is a new breed of gamer: the total fuckin idiot! Obviously you guys dont play games as gamers...you play for achievements only to enlarge your online ego. Muppets.

Ya, I don't get why people complain that others like the achievement system... they are posted challenges that push players to explore areas of a game they might not have before. As well as being the new HIGH SCORE mechanism that's been big since the 80s and before. lol

@14 That doesn't mean anything, he may play games and get the full 1000 but that doesn't mean he is like you in that he won't buy a game unless it has new achievements. I buy the games I like the look of, if I like the game enough I make it a goal to get the full 1000, but I'm anything but an achievement hunter. I use this site for news and the forums, simply because it's simple to use and has a good community.

@12 Its hard to take anyone who considers themselves in the 'pro' zone seriously or an expert on anyone elses motivation for playing games whether from the age of Atari or from the every year sequel Madden players.

Sooo it's just going to be DLC later on you're saying? And thus anyone who already owns a copy of the original should pretty much wait?

As long as we're discussing pawns, anybody is welcome to use mine if they need one with a decent build. Aan Allein (like Lan Mandragoran, if you know the name; I also might have spelled it differently right here and in the game because I didn't use a guide for either lD ) tank fighter who used to be a mage so magic resist is about the same as armor.
A good high level healer is hard to come by. People often make them hybrid mage/healer and that doesn't mesh with my style. I'll check yours out if I can find them. :)

As long as I'm here, I'm curious, what do you guys use for a team setup? I've got a healer, sorcerer, fighter and then myself as a strider/mystic(k?) archer. I keep the pawns for backup and use Helm Splitter to wreck large boss enemies; Helm Splitter hits a large opponent such as a chimera 20-30 times in 2 seconds.

Last I recall I took all the attacks I could off my mage so she would just focus on heals then buffs. I play as a Mystic Shield and typically add a heavy hitter pawn and archer to my group. More specific info than that I can't recall cuz it's been awhile since I played & have a few more games to get through before I mess with my DA copy ...which truth be told if they added more achievements it would get moved up the list faster, but eh.

On topic, I'm a little bit surprised how little fanfare this re-release has received in the gaming press recently.. I haven't even received notification that Amazon UK have shipped my copy.. and it's out in 2 days!

Is getting a save game from the first release worth it for the "free" extras?

@17 say what you want...this mentality of dont buy if it has no achievements is pathetic. People have forgotten what games are about. Back in the days of atari, snes, psone etc there was no such thing. This is the equivalent of people saying "ok this has achievements I will spend 17.99 on this" which basically equates to paying for some meaningless number. Fools...no matter how you say it.
