Billed as an "action/reflection" game, Focus Home Interactive has today revealed Magrunner: Dark Pulse, a puzzling action title set in the year 2050, coming to the Xbox Live Arcade.

A group of young and brilliant citizens chosen by Gruckezber Corporation join the Magtech training programme for space exploration, giving them the opportunity to test a special glove utilising the corporation's cutting edge magnetic technology.

The candidates must make their way through a maze of challenge rooms, magnetically charging objects to attract or repel one another in order to solve puzzles. An earthquake disrupts the programme, transforming it into a "descent into folloy and cosmic horror."

Magrunner: Dark Pulse's debut trailer showcases the puzzling action with the game's hero Dax, in a future setting where Magtech technology mixes it up with the Cthulhu mythos. A release date for XBLA has yet to be confirmed. Check out the trailer and screens below.

It's awesome to see games coming out that are now inspired by the likes of Portal and Half-Life. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Could be good if it meets expectations on the likes of Portal.

Cthulu and Portal in one? That's damn near a instant buy.

I think based on the trailer a derivative cliche story might put me off this, I could be wrong. Puzzle bits look good though and if it does have some interesting quirky non-generic characters like in portal it will do well.

Judging by the lack of comments here about this announcement, it seems that as many gamers complain about annual rehashes, even more give no notice to a new experience. Really sad as this one has my attention; love the fishman at the 1:00 mark also.
