Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
New Castlevania: Lords of the Shadow 2 Details Revealed

Some fresh details have emerged for Castlevania: Lords of the Shadow 2, including info on new weapons, magic and gameplay.

The sequel is the concluding part of the franchise reboot, following the adventures of an older Gabriel Belmont, who has now become Dracula himself, armed with a “Blood Whip.”

As such, the red stuff plays an important role in the game, acting essentially as magic. By defeating enemies using varied combos and precise timing, while also not taking damage, you’ll fill a meter which once full will ensure that every hit dishes out some blood.

The blood can then be spent on powers called “Void” and “Chaos.” Void can be used to summon a sword that regenerates health every time you deal damage, while Chaos gives Gabriel claws that can bust through enemy shields. Both these skills can be levelled up.

Additional abilities include being able to transform into mist in order to dodge enemies and slip through barriers, while you can also “glamour” mortals and control them.

You also have full camera control, boss battles will be longer and more memorable, and the world will be more seamless, meaning presumably that there are less loading screens to deal with this time out.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is set to release later in the year.

I hope Robert Carlyle and Patrick Stuart are back in this, just because.

The DLC's are a must. I highly suggest playing through them because it really explain what happened to Gabriel. Don't want to say too much to give anything away for anyone else.

So the blood mechanic is basically the Focus mechanic from the first Lords of Shadow except it fuels abilities instead.

@6 It follows off after the ending of Lords of Shadow- Mirror of Fate. Yes, to get the full story, you have to buy a 3DS and the game (or just read a synopsis). I'm sure there will be a recap at the start of LoS2 though. If you check out their website, they call the series a trilogy, but if Mirror of Fate sold well enough, it will get ported to consoles.

The camera in the first game being static was perhaps one of the worst things about that game, which almost made it one of the hardest games ever made when playing on Paladin mode. Even Dark Souls wasn't that hard since you had full control of the camera, but with LoS, when you roll in one direction then have the camera angle change and roll you right into the boss...

@11 thanks for the pointers, I'll read up on that. Just one question, do you ever get to play in the same time era as the ending of the first game (not including the DLC)?

They better explain how we go from Mirror of Fate to this game and where the ending cinematic of LoS1 comes into play.

Fucking glorious. Lords of Shadow still remains, in my opinion, one of the best games released during this console generation. Everything about it was just fucking superb. Except maybe the fact that Gabriel's head was a bit too small for his body. Aside from that, a diamond in the rough.

This looks to be even better. Can't wait to see how it turns out. More memorable boss battles?? The boss battles from the first were pretty goddamn memorable. So that statement alone is reason enough for enthusiasm.

And @1&2 Learn to read. When the final sentence of the article states "later this year", you can generally expect that to be the only info available in terms of a release date.

And really... who gives a shit about exactly when it comes out? I'm more concerned with it being finished properly. As should anyone.

@15 and 15: Amen to that bro, you speak from my soul. I can`t wait to figure out who the silver-haired/white-haired guy was on the end of trailer.

If this is Alucard, i will have a nerdgasm XD , i realy hope to play with this white-haired guy too (maybe as part of some story-DLC? Would be amazing)

I couldn't agree more with everything you said about the first game. Spot on. Hidden gem of a game.

Looking forward to this and the improvement to the camera is very good news. One of a few little things about the first game that needed some work.

For anyone who hasn't played the first game, it's regularly dirt cheap on Amazon for a new copy. Here's a link if you're interested in picking it up.

I don't think it will release later this year. We haven't even hit E3 and the holiday season is already crowded as hell.

Good game but got a bit dull toward the end. Hope they fix those shitty huge boss fights too. The first time was epic but it was the same shit diffrent boss after that.

Also that ds game was awful so let's step this one up.

@12 Mirror of Fate is set during multiple time periods, but at most it's about 35-40 years after Lords of Shadow (DLC is set immediately after so no time has passed). From what I understand, Lords of Shadow 2 is set quite a long time after Mirror of Fate, but still in medieval times since the trailer shows knights and catapults.

@12 No, but...

@14 that location was shown in both trailers released thus far. So I fully expect that we'll get there by the end of LoS2.

@15 It absolutely is Alucard. Did you notice his signature gold trimmed, black attire? Also, I may be mistaken. But I'm relatively certain he makes his first appearance to the lore of this series in Mirror of Fate.

@15 (again) As far as him being playable? I'm willing to bet a dime to a dollar that both Gabriel/Dracul and Gabriel will be playable. Both having their own intersecting storylines that split the game right down the middle in terms of length. And that right there is the most exciting prospect of this game. Playing both the hero AND the villain parallel to one another.

Loved the first one,the only things i didn't like were the crap camera and the fact that the game was split into levels,i would have preferred a open world adventure like in fallout or darksiders.
