Hellraid Screens Show More Murky Murder

Here’s a handful of new screens for Hellraid, the upcoming “first-person co-op slasher.”

Developer Techland describes the game as blending “elements of classic hack & slash titles with a more advanced combat system based on timing and precision, RPGs, shooters and multiplayer games into one unique experience seen in very immersive, first-person perspective.”

All of which is a bit of a mouthful.

Perhaps more interesting is Hellraid’s “Game Master,” a system similar to Left 4 Dead’s Director that ensures that no two playthroughs are the same.

“In co-operation mode, Game Master carefully selects competitive challenges for players and awards the best ones at the end of each level,” says Techland. “It changes where and how you and your friends complete quests, placement, numbers and types of enemies you encounter as well as deploying treasure chests and loot.”

Have a look at the screenshots below. Hellraid is out later this year for current-gen systems.

I really hope they change the enemy mechanics because as much as I enjoyed Dead Island, I don't want to play against skeletons and undead that function the same way the Infected do...Game looks and sounds nice though, definitely gonna be keeping an eye on it.

I've never liked first person melee combat. I don't know exactly why. Maybe it's the stupid constant swinging at enemies that never looks like you're hitting them. Makes it much less immersive.
That's why when I play Dead Island, I use guns at any point I can.
And the same with Skyrim. I'm using magic almost exclusively.
