Halo 4 Weapon Update Rolls Out Next Week, Full Notes Here

343 Industries has revealed the details of a sweeping update to Halo 4, bringing tweaks to a number of weapons and vehicles.

As previously noted, among the changes are an increase in power to many of the weapons, in an effort to balance and speed up gameplay.

The patch begins to roll out from Monday June 3rd next week, and is detailed in full below.

Battle Rifle

  • The Battle Rifle damage has been increased
  • The Battle Rifle is now capable of killing in four bursts
  • The Battle Rifle rate of fire has been slightly decreased
  • The Battle Rifle red reticle range (range at which auto-aim benefits kick in) has been decreased
  • Two bursts from a Battle Rifle followed by a melee will now kill an opponent (2-shot melee)

Carbine

  • The Carbine damage has been increased. The Carbine is now capable of killing in seven rounds
  • The Carbine accuracy has been increased (projectile spread decrease)
  • The Carbine red reticle range has been decreased

LightRifle

  • The LightRifle zoomed rate of fire has been increased
  • The LightRifle un-zoomed rate of fire has been slightly decreased
  • The LightRifle red reticle range has been increased to match the updated DMR range

DMR

  • The DMR red reticle range has been slightly decreased

Assault Rifle

  • The Assault Rifle damage has been slightly increased. The Assault Rifle now kills in three less rounds
  • The Assault Rifle auto-aim angle has been reduced
  • The Assault Rifle projectile spread has been decreased

Storm Rifle

  • The Storm Rifle damage has been increased. The Storm Rifle now kills in three less rounds
  • The Storm Rifle auto-aim angle has been reduced
  • The Storm Rifle projectile spread has been decreased

Suppressor

  • The Suppressor damage has been increased. The Suppressor now kills in three less rounds
  • The Suppressor auto-aim angle has been reduced
  • The Suppressor projectile spread has been decreased

SAW

  • The SAW's damage has been increased to maintain double the damage-per-second of the Assault Rifle

Magnum

  • The damage has been slightly increased. The Magnum is still capable of killing in six rounds

Vehicles

  • The damage has been increased on both the Mantis and Warthog Chain Gun

I just downloaded all the DLC (I got the limited editon) and the second half of Spartan Ops, will actually play it all after this update :D

Would prefer nerfs, to boosts, this way every weapon kills too fast, which is the main reason I hate COD mp it turns into a game of who sees who fist.

I don't agree with these changes, ok halo had to go in a new direction, loadouts, sprint etc.
But is used to be a game of skill not just whoever sees who first will win.
It just isn't halo.

A little too late for me, but at least they're fixing their mistakes. The DMR was ridiculous and unless you knew what you were doing you were almost certainly outgunned in a DMR/BR duel.

If anything, I'll all for this. My main gripe with Halo was that you would never stand a chance 1v2. Though I don't think we'll see the day when you may be able to take on two guys engaging you head on in Halo, this is a nice step in the right direction.

The carbine was my weapon of choice and I was cross-mapping people with that already, and now they've buffed the damage? This is why multiplayer shooters are an annoyance, they're always fucking around with the guns.

Fortunately for me, I already finished the entire achievement list and traded Halo 4 away for Hitman Absolution.

@9 ill grant you that, but it was hard to do and you didn't have a million different one shot weapons In halo 3. Now people can have a mini shotgun all the time if they wish, there's also a one shot sniper rifle which is extremely easy to use, the incineration cannon which is just silly, a rail gun which is also one shot and extremely easy to use.

All I'm saying is I don't like how fast the gameplay is, halo was slow, cod was faster.

Finally out this in my disc try with the intention of playing then found out installing the game wasn't enough and had to download another 4.5GB of so. Pfffft.

Yet I still got two achievements.

ever since Halo Reach the multiplayer has been a terrible experience...trying to be more COD and BF instead of like Halo 3 which was epic and lasted for years.

Halo 3 multiplayer was about skill, which none of the recent Halo multiplayer games are about.

@6 Winning 1v2s is easy, if you a good have aim and strafe.

OT: The only change i disagree with is the SAW buff. Other than that, this is all i could have asked for.

after 343 put this shitty forge maps in the matchmaking, i dont even play halo 4 any more. and now they downgrade the dmr ? my dmr ? whats wrong with you 343 ? am i still the only one hating those things 343 is doing at the moment ?

I really hope 343i learn from their mistakes and recreate an old Halo experience with Halo 5, because Halo 4 was just ludicrous to me in terms of how it compared to previous installments. If Halo 5 is no different (or worse), then I won't be giving Halo 6 a try. And it's sad for me to say that, I've played every Halo (including Wars and ODST) when they came out Week 1, it's one of my favorite franchises.

Beefing everything is not agood thing.........They should be weaking thing's like the dmr, the sniper rifle since it shouldn't be spawn killing vehicles.

None of the weapon's needed a damage increase, the only thing they should have with weapon's is either sort out the damage to vehicle's or tone down the dmr, br to be similar the br from Halo 3.

Very surprised the Carbine was buffed. It already had a fast fire rate and killed in a reasonable ammount of time.

These were necessary as the kill speed needed to be upped just a touch, and the DMR was OP. With everything on an equal playing field it'll feel so much better. I am so glad this wasn't turning into reach.

So, the damage boosts changing weapons into close to how they were in Halo 3, the last good competitive FPS in the series, is too COD-esque? Um, OK.

Suffice to say, I'm pleased with most of these changes. That the DMR killed quickly wasn't the main issue; the problem was that it dominated from all ranges while requiring very little skill to be proficient with it. While I don't think that using automatic weapons is particularly skillful, the fact that the precision weapons are being given a larger buff means that we shouldn't end up with a situation similar to Gears 3, where an overpowered, noob-friendly rifle (the Retro Lancer) doesn't make the game a bore to play and watch.

Finally, thank you for finally making the chain gun stronger. It is so piss-weak in its current incarnation that you would be better off getting out of the vehicle to shoot somebody with your main weapon more often than not. Maybe the Warthog will actually be useful once this update rolls out.

@24 I've been saying this game was too much like Call of Duty since Day 1. Just the addition of loadouts alone was asinine, the great thing about old Halo games was the equality players shared at the start of games and after every spawn. I could say a million more things but it seems like it doesn't matter to some.

would still rather play halo 3 to be honest as the battle rifle just forced me away from this game as it is stronger than a DMR which is utter BS

@3 Can't you see this is what all developers should do instead of just nerfing guns and then people never using that gun again, COD for example. 343 did good beefing up the other guns so they match around the DMR which everybody was complaining about, But I actually have more kills with BR then with DMR(Excluding SWAT). So with this update coming up I'll probably use the other guns like the light rifle and the carbine since I only use the DMR and BR. But Assault Rifle getting beefed up seems a bit overkill since it seems like it already kills pretty fast compared to the AR in the other Halo's.

Not to happy about the DMR to be honest or the Battle Rifle two shoot one melee kill too.
