Metro: Last Light
Metro: Last Light Sold More in a Week than Metro 2033 Has to Date

Triumphing over adversity amid fairly horrid working conditions, 4A Games' Metro: Last Light has managed to outperform its predecessor Metro 2033, by quite some margin. In the US alone, Metro: Last Light managed to sell through more boxed copies in its first week than Metro 2033 achieved in its lifetime to date.

Across all formats, Metro: Last Light has sold more during its first week worldwide than Metro 2033 did in three months, enjoying a number 1 spot in the charts upon its debut. The game was also widely well-received by critics.

“4A Games are honoured by the reception our latest project has received,” said 4A Games Creative Director Andrew Prokhorov, “We are a small but dedicated team who are lucky to have been given the creative freedom and support to make the kind of experience we dream, as gamers, of playing.

"Our work on Metro: Last Light continues with new single player DLC, and we look forward to revealing future projects from the team. We want to thank all the Metro fans for support we have received."

Metro: Last Light's Season Pass is available now for 1200 MSP, and will include the 'Faction Pack', 'Chronicles Pack', 'Tower Pack' and 'Developer Pack'.

WAY TO GO 4A!!!!!

@ 1 Not entirely a shame really but true enough, if anything this will grab it some more well-deserved attention, as it is very well respected. And considering how well MLL is doing will hopefully inspire people to go out and grab 2033 if they haven't tried it yet since it's super cheap now. Even to read to the book maybe :)

Ah fuck it, I am going to get the season pass, just need to grab points.

I don't recall the first being as well advertised and it's a shame it possibly didn't get the attention it deserved at the time.. but if it does not as a result, great!

Recently purchased the first game myself, picked it up for £9 new. Gonna bash thru that before I pick up Last Light.

It's an amazing, immersive single player experience, buy it people.
The developers deserve the money more than some other company's out there milking us year in, year out for the same copy and paste bullshit.

Good news. Glad to see people are interested and support those type of games. Because that's what we need. And hopefully this will encourage more publishers to allow developers more 'creative freedom'. Because that's what they need.

I was surprised just how good Metro 2033 was. I picked it up for £3 last year, as it was all that I could afford, and I gotta say it was amazing. Dark and gritty with a deep storyline. Only took 2 days to complete, but, it was totally engrossing. Last Light does interest me though, just gonna wait for a price drop.

How's you what a strong marketing campaign can do for sales. Did it result in a profit or did the marketing costs hinder a decent turnover?

Either way good recognition for a game and a push at another sequel

@11 And everyone has an opinion to like or dislike your comment.

No wonder this game sold that much. I've watched some playthroughs and it looks amazing!

Great news, even more so considering the article a few weeks ago detailing the conditions this team had to work under.

Its decent. Worth a rent as it can be beat in around 8 hours. I liked 2033 better.

I never saw metro 2033 advertised. I'm constantly seeing last light advertisements. It's good to see a studio like this getting their game out there for people to see. It's funny how they can sell more copies of a sequel. I don't know how people can play a game without knowing the story behind it. lol

Last Light would have to of had more human enemies on it then 2033 cause most of the levels you were outside, still i'd say that metro 2033 was still a good game just Last Light was more adults only version :)
