CD Projekt RED is opening a new development studio in Krakow, Poland.
The new office from the creator of The Witcher series, and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game, will focus on the development of one of two unannounced titles.
"This July we are opening an office in Krakow,” managing director Adam Badowski told Gamasutra.
“As we informed in our strategy outlook some time ago, aside from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, the studio aims to develop two smaller (approximately 20h of gameplay) premium quality titles.
“Consisting of 20 people, the core team in Krakow will be responsible for developing one of these games."
When initially revealed, these two games were described as “supporting one of the product lines,” suggesting that they would be spin-offs relating to either The Witcher or Cyberpunk 2077.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt featured at E3 2013, where a brain-meltingly good trailer was released (see below). It hits Xbox One in 2014.
Cyberpunk 2077, meanwhile, is a sci-fi RPG based on the world of the pen-and-paper RPG game Cyberpunk 2020. It’s described by the studio as a "multi-thread, nonlinear story designed for mature players.” More on that through here.
