Another day, another story of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’s continued success. The latest milestone? A whopping seven million copies sold.
That’s according to 4J Studios, the ladies and gentlemen behind the Xbox 360 version of the game. “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has now sold over 7 MILLION copies !!!” tweeted the developer excitedly.
That number is set to increase too. The disc-based version of the game is out in the UK today and should it replicate the performance of the boxed release in the US - which was the fastest-selling game at retail recently - then 4J Studios will see even more success.
Meanwhile, 4J has confirmed that texture pack support will be added to the game with Title Update 12, meaning that users will be able to change the look of the game by downloading packs. You can see some examples of the patches available on PC here.
A version of Minecraft is coming to Xbox One, Microsoft announced during its E3 press conference. The platform-holder and 4J Studios are currently in talks to ensure that saves can be swapped between versions.
