Ubisoft had a couple of surprises up its sleeves for this year’s E3, both with an online MMO vibe to them. Firstly, there was Tom Clancy’s The Division, an MMORPGTTPSRTSTAO – massively multiplayer online role-playing tactical third person shooter real time shooter that’s action-orientated (trademark pending) – and then there was The Crew, an open-world, persistent driving game.
We caught up with The Crew’s Creative Director, Julian Gerighty at E3 this year to get the lowdown on the game. We delve further into the title, which Gerighty calls a driving game, not just a racing game. We ask whether it’s possibly too ambitious, you know, with the 10+ cities they’ve created, find out its structure – yes, there’s a single-player portion if you want it – and much, much more. Then there’s a load of gameplay we threw in as well. You’re welcome!
The Crew is scheduled for a 2014 release. You can read our hands-on preview here.
