Some new details pertaining to new gameplay additions for Dark Souls II have emerged from Famitsu [via Reddit], citing features including a new Guard Break ability, new Pyromancy Spells and the ability to conjure Miracles. The source is a fan translation of Japanese presentation slides, so should be taken with a pinch of salt. Y'know, just in case.
First of all, the Guard Break move is reportedly similar to the riposte from Dark Souls, but rather than being performed after a successful parry, it's used once you break through an enemy's defences. Ammo types for your bow can also be switched on the fly using the shoulder buttons, which is convenient.
As far as new Pyromancy Spells and Miracles are concerned, there's the Soul Spear that rains magic from the sky, a fire whip spell, a magic greatsword and a powerful fireball spell that injures both the enemy and the caster. That one sounds odd. Then there's the Replenishment Miracle that increases your attack and defence, as well as the stamina stealing Dark Orb.
Finally, there's a new breed of grass that apparently replenishes your spell count, and if you've read our Dark Souls II E3 hands-on preview, you'll already know about handy Life Gems that give you a small shot of health when you use them, preserving your previous full health bar-refilling Estus Flasks.
Hopefully, all of the above proves to be true, as it sounds pretty good. Dark Souls II is out in March 2014.
