Bringing three new single-player missions to Metro: Last Light, Deep Silver has slapped a release date on the first dose of Season Pass content, the Factions Pack DLC, in which you'll return to some classic locations from Metro 2033.

Each of the three Faction Pack missions will cast you as a different specialist from the warring factions with different weapons and three distinct gameplay challenges. The Faction Pack DLC also promises the return of a terrifying and fearsome mutant foe.

In terms of the faction specialists you'll play as during the DLC, there's the Special Detachment Sniper of the Redline, who must infiltrate a heavily guarded Reich outpost at night while a deadly radioactive storm rages; then there's the Reich 'Heavy' who you'll play as defending the frontline, using some of the game's most devastating weaponry.

And finally, there's the Polis Ranger in training, who must pick his way through a vast Library complex in a search for artifacts and relics. You'll trade salvage for ammo, filters and hazard suits, enabling you to explore deeper into the Library, leaving lit torches to illuminate a trail back to base before your oxygen supply expires.

You'll be able to grab the Faction Pack DLC for Metro: Last Light on July 16th for 400 Microsoft Points, or get it as part of the Season Pass (with an extra weapon, the Abzats), available to download for 1200 MSP. The Factions Pack is the first of four planned Season Pass DLC packs for Metro: Last Light. Check out the first three screens from the upcoming DLC below.

This looks great! And we get to play as the Reich? Gimme!

The Polis Ranger mission is right out of the first novel, too. Artyom learns of their trips into the Great Library before being taken there himself. In the game Metro 2033, it was to discover the map to D6, but in the book Artyom was supposed to find a book of prophecy that was lost in the stacks and the map to D6 was supposed to be his reward for finding it.

@#1 - The Librarians were the first thing I thought of, too. But then I realised that the black, hairy semi-human-faed Nosalises from 2033 aren't in Last Light.

@#5 - Then what are you waiting for? It has many improvements from Metro 2033 while still retaining all of that great atmosphere. And there's an actual stealth mechanic in Last Light!

@5 you do realize that attacking @3 and downvoting every time he posts his raps is just going to make him continue to post more in every article. If you ignore someone they usually go away, giving negative/positive responses gives them a reason to stay.
