Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has been left in awe of Grand Theft Auto V, following the open-world title’s gameplay reveal earlier this week.
In fact, bearing in mind that Kojima’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain also takes place within an open world - a first for the series - the GTA V trailer has left him a little down in the dumps.
"GTA V’s new trailer was awesome!” said Kojima on Twitter overnight. “This free control is future of the game, way higher than anywhere, makes me depress[ed] as matter fact.”
He continued, “I don't think our ‘V’ can reach that level. Rockstar's team are the best. W/o question they will pull up the possibility of game.”
Interesting stuff, and high praise indeed from one of the industry’s most respected creators. GTA V does indeed offer a dizzying amount of choice and freedom across what looks like a vast world.
