No Immediate Plans for Further Darkstalkers Releases, Says Capcom

Darkstalkers Resurrection has not performed strongly enough for Capcom to consider any further releases.
Speaking at San Diego Comic Con, Capcom’s fighting game manager Matt Dahlgren squashed any hopes of further games in the series by saying, “Darkstalkers Resurrection did not perform as well as we would have liked to perform.”
He added, “You never know what the future may hold, but Street Fighter is definitely not dead. There is nothing Darkstalkers on the immediate horizon for sure.”
The reveal comes following Capcom’s announcement in April that the developer and publisher is to stop updating its legacy fighting titles.
"Sadly, I think we've probably run the course of feasible titles here given the drop-off we've seen in sales with each new introduction," said Capcom USA boss Christian Svensson.
"It seems the novelty of such projects is wearing off even within just the fighting game community based upon the sales data of our last two launches.”
So while Street Fighter is still going strong - Ultra Street Fighter IV was announced recently - it looks like Capcom’s other fighting franchises are slowing down.
