A new developer diary for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified has surfaced, taking a look behind the scenes at the game's narrative and how it helps in building "an engaging action shooter".

The video features a chat with Lead Narrative Designer Erik Caponi, who lends some insight into The Bureau's story of the XCOM agency's infancy during the 1960s, as aliens threaten mankind's existence.

You can find out more in the new dev diary below. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is out on August 20th in North America and August 23rd in Europe.

This game seems to have a split personality. Some of the trailers have a serious tone, then you've got the YOLO trailer, and that hungeroverx website. Looks like they can't decide what they're going for here.

So I notice that XCOM HQ has the same "vigilo confido" logo as in Enemy Unknown. Is this tied to the other game?

@#3 Well this is supposed to tell the story of how Agency got started, so I guess you could treat is as sort of prequel to all other games...
