Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 has been dated a February 2014 release.

The conclusion of MercurySteam series hits the US on February 25th and Europe on February 27th, a little later than the previously projected late 2013 launch.

You can see some new screens for the game below, as well as some fresh shots from Castlevania: Lords ofShadow - Mirror of Fate HD, the upgraded XBLA version of the popular Nintendo 3DS title. Mirror of Fate is out on October 31st.

In addition to this, Konami has also confirmed Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection.

Available on the same date as Lords of Shadow 2, it’s a retail collection of Mirror of Fate HD, as well as the original Lords of Shadow and its Reverie and Resurrection DLC.

The collection also offers early access to the first playable demo Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

I couldn't really get into the first one, the game got boring quickly. But this one looks a lot better so I'll give it a go!

Only Castlevania game I ever played was SotN, which I first played only a few months ago. It quickly became one of my favorite games on the Arcade, and I've done 5 playthroughs of the story since. I also tried the trial to Harmony of Despair, but couldn't really get into it (heard it is much better in co-op however).

How is the first LoS game, and are there any other games that are very similar to SotN that I should try to find?

I enjoyed the first game, although replaying the missions to get 1k was a bit grindy and I never finished the DLC even though I bought it when it was 66% off. I liked the combat, enemies and level design, so I'm most likely buying this on the day of release.

As a big Castlevaina fan, I really enjoyed this one as well. The only problem I had was it was linear compared to the old school Castlevania games like SOTN where u can go anywhere in the castle. The killing animations for this game though is amazing.

While I'm very disappointed, I guess I can understand they didn't want to release against 2 new systems and a lot of huge games. Smart to go to a less crowded release date. Just disappointed I can't play the game this year :(

If the collection is available on the same date as LoS2, how is it an early access demo?

@11 actually SOTN and the like would be 'new school'-castlevania, as the oldschool castlevania games were very linear platform games (but extremely awesome). with SOTN they headed in a new direction which was received very well and used for every castlevania title since then.
well cept for LoS, which was inspired by the old old-school games like Super Castlevania IV. (which incidentally also took place mostly outside of the castle, which was one of the things considered a negative in LoS).

@14: Its a error in their news coverage. Mirrors of Fate HD and The LoS Collection comes out on the 29th of October.

@13: Yeah that is what I posted with my ps3trophies.org account also. Nov and Dec will be such a mess with XB1 and PS4 launching and their titles. I'm disappointed that we have to wait till 2014 but with Mirrors of fate HD and the collection I'm looking forward to. So I'll forgive them.
