Battlefield 4 Will Include a Test Range For Vehicles

Are you - like me - a rubbish Battlefield pilot? Do you jump into a helicopter and spiral it into the ground, pissing off the rest of your team for wasting a perfectly good aerial vehicle? While this is undoubtedly hilarious, Battlefield 4 will include a vehicle test range that will enable you to hone your piloting skills.

"If you want to learn to fly a helicopter you can get in there and you can find the settings that work best for you. And then start doing some stunt flights just to feel safe before you go out and get the responsibility of a bunch of other people sitting in your helicopter, so I truly hope that this will help people feel more safe about trying out the whole battlefield," DICE's Creative Director Lars Gustavsson told IGN.

Getting to grips with the controls of Battlefield 4's planes and choppers ahead of taking to the skies in a live multiplayer match is a great idea, and one that I'll certainly be taking advantage of when the game launches on October 29th in North America and November 1st in Europe for Xbox 360 and at launch for Xbox One.

While I have become an experienced pilot, having played all the past Battlefields, this is a great feature for people learning to fly! Can't wait for this game!

Yes! This is the one thing I thought BF3 was sorely missing.

Needs SAM turrets in the testing range that are firing missiles at you, so people can learn to evade instead of just bailing on their copilot.

Cool, I never played BF3, but I remember playing bad company 2 and been afraid to jump in a chopper as I had no idea how to fly it.

Managed to master piloting the jets but the choppers were a whole different challenge. Once I changed controller layouts though I have got better but still not a patch on these seasoned pro's owning every game I enter. Great feature to finally add

This is a great idea, I'm crap at flying the vehicles and the only chance you get to learn is if your lucky enough to get one before the person that just died in it leeches it again.

Shame, sometimes there used to be an element of fun/risk of jumping in with a random pilot

Sometimes they used to turn out to be awesome, got a couple of people on my friends list that way

On the whole a good thing though

Simple but great idea. Have always avoided the helicopters in previous BF games after trying one once and killing 4 team mates in the process. Nice to know you can brush up on your skills before jumping online

This is such great news. Now I can actually help my squad and team out. I nevere flew since it always resulted in my crashing it and killing my own squad by accident.

That's great news. I've become a good pilot in BF3 after some time, but I would've loved to have this feature to accelerate my Learning process.

I actually just managed to learn how to fly jets in BF3, I stuck with it in MP games and eventually came through. It turns out unlocking shit helps a lot, but basics are not so hard. Helicopters I always found pretty easy to fly, but nice to see that there will be less dicks taking jet for a spin down to ground few seconds later+D

This actually just convinced me to buy this game. I enjoy the series don't get me wrong, but I can't seem to put a whole lot of time into it. Rather than being "that guy" that crashes the much desired jet or helicopter into the ground, I tend to let others do it. Being able to actually learn how they work in a non-competative environment is a big deal for a n00b like me.

I learned by playing in empty servers. A word of caution: flying in a proper game is 10x harder because of the constant missile locks, soflams, tanks & aa shooting at you, other air vehicles harassing you etc. its very stressful haha

THANK YOU GOD!

I crashed so many helicopters and jets trying to learn to fly them in multiplayer. I still suck with jets, especially in a dogfight or trying to hit anything with my guns... But at least I don't randomly crash anymore.

I would absolutely LOVE a way to practice flying and maneuvering these things without being harassed 24/7 while you learn controls and maneuverability.

What an awesome idea! The amount of times I have raced to the chopper just to be beaten by the guy who plummets us straight into the ground 30 seconds later - Is unbelievable! Hopefully people will use this! :)

So, I think it can be concluded that more crashes in Battlefield 4 multiplayer will be caused by people doing so intentionally to troll their squad and/or team. With this, there's no real excuse for not being able to at least keep a chopper or jet in the air without committing suicide if you want to fly.

Personally, I learned how to fly choppers from playing GTA IV (which has similar controls), TBoGT, and Bad Company 2. Jets are definitely more difficult to use, as you have to be able to both fly well AND shoot efficiently in order to be an effective pilot.

It's surprising to see how many people gave up after one failure. It's called practice haha you can't get better at something if you avoid it all together

Yay, bc I just played the BF3 campaign (havent played BF before) and did not have a tutorial for flying a jet which was gay and didnt even pilot the plane. The tank was the only thing! And after playing Multiplayer I still didnt know how to use the vehicles lol!

This is cool for all those new to the game but there needs to be a 5 minute test or something that you have to pass in order to fly.
