absolutely love the game, just hope the movie doesn't turn out crap. which going on most games to movies, probably will be.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 07:11 AM
This has the potential to be very brutal and very awesomeWednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 07:18 AM
Great game. Hope the movie does come out would be a seller for me!Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 07:19 AM
I bought the anime based off the game. Average at best despite the interesting subject matter. Halo Legends shat all over it, as you would expect with the money they pumped into it.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 07:38 AM
How about a sequel to the game instead. Visceral is amazing when EA doesn't interfere with their creativity.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 07:48 AM
The animated movie released to coincide with the game release was actually a good film, my advice is check that out rather than get your hopes up for this.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 08:52 AM
So they're making the movie based on the game.. instead of the book? Why?Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 09:45 AM
As much as I enjoyed the game for what it was (a fairly standard brawler, with excellent environment and monster designs), I'd much rather they base a movie more off of the actual book as opposed to this game. I can absolutely understand the kind of interpretation that the game used, since it's a game, but a movie could draw so much more from the source material. Basically, I'd want more of a slow, psychological horror than the more visceral (pun not intended) interpretation of the game.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 09:45 AM
Just hurry up and release Dante's Pergatorio.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 10:06 AM
I would much rather base it off the book. Plus with the person who did the Evil Dead remake, this could be really good.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 10:08 AM
Won't work. It would need to be rated R or NC-17 for intense violence, and no studio ever wants a movie released with that rating anymore.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 10:14 AM
Yeah it was a good gameWednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 10:19 AM
@11 What are you going on about? Still waiting for sequel to the first game. That "to be continued" at the end. Such a tease. The Divine Comedy was interesting material to base a game off of. I want to see more.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 11:13 AM
PLEASEEEE don't fuck this up if it happenes.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 11:32 AM
I don't think this kind of games needs a sequel tbh. Move could be pretty gory and solid. Blood fest just like last Evil Dead move as long as they keep it in R rating, it could turn out to be fun=DWednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 02:02 PM
@13 #11 is right. Most moviemakers won't bother with those films anymore because of the limited ammount of people that are allowed to watch them. It's a big risk for them to make the money back. Instead most of the times they end up making a movie suitable for more people so they can make more money with them.Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 04:52 PM
Rated 12A pobably... do it right, make it an 18 or don't make it at all!Wednesday, September 18, 2013 @ 08:55 PM
Well the director can certainly get the brutality down, this might have some hope.Thursday, September 19, 2013 @ 02:09 AM
I read that title horribly wrong. I saw "Evil Dead Remake Helmer in Talks to Direct" and thought that some guy with the last name Helmer was making a remake of the very recent (and excellent) Evil Dead remake and thought "whats the point of that?" all the while wondering what any of this has to do with the animated (and not so good) Dantes Inferno movie.

With Need for Speed the movie set to eventually blast in to cinemas with Breaking Bad's Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) in the lead role, another EA property could be making its way to multiplexes. It's Visceral's God of War-style hack and slasher Dante's Inferno that could be getting the celluloid treatment, with Uruguayan helmer Fede Alvarez in talks with Universal Pictures to direct.
Alvarez previously directed the Evil Dead remake, and could end up attached as director on an adaptation of the Dante's Inferno video game, released back in 2010. Eric Newman and Marc Abraham, the producers behind the upcoming Robocop remake are apparently on board as producers alongside EA Entertainment VP, Patrick O'Brien, who is also working on the aforementioned Need for Speed flick.
Universal Pictures acquired the rights to Dante's Inferno several years ago, but have so far failed to get a movie project off the ground. These latest rumblings could be a sign that a hellish Dante's Inferno picture could be in the offing, although video game movie adaps historically haven't had the best of fortunes, even when they do eventually get made and released.
