Deus Ex: Universe
Next-Gen Deus Ex to Mark the Beginning of Eidos Montreal's 'Deus Ex: Universe'

Eidos Montreal has announced that it's working on a next-gen Deus Ex concept known as 'Deus Ex: Universe', which will be comprised of "an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games."

The developer is promising to "deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before."

Apparently, this will mainly include various console and PC games, as well as Deus Ex experiences for tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels and so on. As such, Eidos Montreal has already entered production on a new Deus Ex game for next-gen consoles that will provide a starting point for the Deus Ex: Universe.

Developed by the Deus Ex: Human Revolution team, the next-gen Deus Ex will feature "trans-humanism segregation" as one of its core themes, and is the backdrop to the developer's vision for the next Deus Ex. The first piece of concept art (below) is said to represent a 'ghetto-city' that has been "voluntarily built in order to separate the classes.

"The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex."

It's early days for the next-gen Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Universe, so apparently, there won't be much more to show for a while, according to Eidos Montreal. However, in other Deus Ex news, Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut will be heading to Xbox 360 on October 22nd in North America and October 25th in Europe.

Question to anyone that can answer: Does Deus Ex: HR (Director's Cut) have its own achievements?

Don't really care about the expanded stuff, but a new next-gen core game is rad. I'll trust the company to make another great product.

Considering how good the last two Deus Ex games have been, I'm excited for the next-gen installment.

Let's hope for some intricately-woven Grant Morrison/Prison Break-style shit. Always thought a series like Deus Ex would benefit from that. Best way to do episodic content, imo.

Here's hoping they put the DLC on sale right before the DC comes out....picked up the game shortly after the DLC went on sale and have been waiting ever since. Not paying $15 for a DLC that's been out this long (and is the same cost as the game on the marketplace)

@6 Hm. I would think that it might have its own achievement list, but I don't think that's it. I'd imagine more things to utilize some of the new features, like New Game +, or defeating the bosses using stealth... maybe it does, but I don't think it's the same achievements.

@#5 I sure hope you are referring to HR and the tablet game, because IW was a disgrace for Deus Ex franchise... Having high hopes for the sequel to HR, take your time and make it even better than the last=)

Loved Deus Ex: Human Revolution in 2011 and completed on Xbox 360. If achievements is same list in Director's Cut from original version then I getting Wii U version because Wii U have exclusive content for Wii U gamepad gameplay and Square Enix mention Wii U graphics will be better then Xbox 360 and PS3 since they about port versions to Wii U because Wii U is first in developing so back in early Summer Square Enix want to bring multiformats because they know Wii U version possible sold low then Xbox 360 and PS3. This is reason why.

So if achievements is new for Director's Cut then I getting Xbox 360 so for now I preordered Director's Cut for Wii U version.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of my favourite games in 2011.

I look forward Eidos next title is Thief then new Deus Ex title!!!! Love Eidos they are great developers. :)

Burst, I think in one sentence you said "Wii U" more times than have ever been said on this site combined :p
Will be neat to see what they can do with the gamepad, though. I expect to see similar features on Xbone using smartglass!

OT: I agree with everybody else; if you haven't play HR, do yourself a favor and pick it up!

I can't say whether the "Director's Cut" will have different achievements from the original version... but "Batman: Arkham Asylum" and the GOTY edition of the same game had separate achievements... so it just might!

@21: That was because it was coded differently due to the inclusion of stereoscopic 3D.

From the people who brought you an internet meme and an iOS game that nobody "asked for," "DX: Universe!" The unnecessary and amateurish subtitle implies an online cock-up. As someone who pre-ordered the DX:HR Augmented Edition at full price and loved it, I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

I loved DX:HR, barring the craptastic bosses, but I really don't like the sound of all these different things linking up. If they're separate but refer to the others, that's okay, but I don't want to see phone games connecting to a proper console/PC game.
