GTA Online was patched over the weekend, fixing a variety of issues that prevented players from progressing past the opening tutorial. But further problems remain.
As well as general server problems, players have also reported lost characters, cars, apartments, items and in-game money. Rockstar says it is looking into it.
"We are continuing to investigate the causes of the lost progress and what can be done to minimize the impact until a permanent fix is in place," said Rockstar in an overnight update.
"Also, we have not forgotten about the requests for restoration. We are in the process of determining the options for addressing the issues for those players who have been affected."
In the meantime, Rockstar has offered a workaround that should hopefully prevent lost progress. According to the developer, if you buy anything and then shut your console down you may lose your purchases. So your best bet is to quit out to Story Mode, which will automatically trigger a save.
In addition to this, Rockstar has advised players not to use the “Retry” button after seeing the "Rockstar Cloud Servers are unavailable" message, as that too may lead to the loss of character data.
