EA Sports has announced that future PGA Tour Games will not continue the series’ partnership with the golfer Tiger Woods.

"EA SPORTS and Tiger Woods have made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger's named PGA TOUR golf game," said Daryl Holt, vice president and general manager of golf for EA Sports.

"We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

"Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong.

"EA Sports is committed to creating a new golf experience that leverages the best technologies across EA to deliver a stunning and immersive game for mobile and next generation consoles."

Woods has lent his name to the golf franchise since 1998. However, since the former world number one’s marital infidelities were revealed in 2009, both the golfer and the series has been on the slide.

Indeed, the writing was on the wall in 2011, when EA Sports removed Tiger Woods’ image from the front cover and replaced it with a picture of a flag. Which was quite funny.

Edit: Additionally, EA Sports has released a comparison shot, showing how the next-gen version of PGA Tour compares to current gen. It's purdy.
