Having been tentatively scheduled for the end of this year, Techland's first-person dungeon crawling hack and slasher, Hellraid has been delayed into 2014, as the developer looks to add new features and game modes for the single-player campaign and 4-player co-op modes. It'll also now be a digital downloadable release.
"Since we started developing Hellraid we have had a clear goal to create a game that we all would love to play. We wanted to pay tribute to the best aspects of classic titles we grew up on and enhance them with new ideas, modern technology and extensive co-op that would provide players with dozens or even hundreds of hours of pure and bloody fun," Game Producer Marcin Kruczkiewicz stated.
"If we released our game this year we would have to make too many compromises and the final product probably wouldn’t meet all our promises and players’ expectations."
Techland says that the reason for pushing Hellraid to 2014 on Xbox 360 is to "implement new ideas" and redesign parts of the game that players didn't like when playtesting the game. A specific date for Hellraid's launch on XBLA will be revealed in due course.
