Despite Lost Planet 3 not being completely terrible, sales of Spark Unlimited's first foray into the series has seemingly left players cold, with the game limping to just 300,000 sales worldwide.
"Sales of 'Lost Planet 3' (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC) were below expectations due in part to intensifying competition in the European and US markets," Capcom stated in its latest financial results.
The game is part of Capcom's ongoing attempts to appeal more to its western market, roping in western developers to give its biggest franchises a kick up the backside. Capcom is hoping for better results from Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One, forecasting 1.2 million copies sold.
These sales forecasts are still comparatively low, with the original Dead Rising selling 1.8 million copies on Xbox 360 and Dead Rising 2 selling over 2.4 million units across all formats.
It's not all doom and gloom for Capcom however, with Dragon's Dogma shifting 650,000 units and Resident Evil: Revelations selling approximately one million copies, resulting in overall sales being up 7.2% compared to last year.
