Did you know that Microsoft is launching something called the "Xbox One" on November 22nd? You did? Well, did you know that Microsoft is planning enormous global midnight launch parties to be held at a variety of locations around the world? Now you do.
“Today we invite millions of Xbox fans around the world to join us for the launch of Xbox One, beginning on November 21st as we count down the final hours to the launch of Xbox One,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Xbox Corporate VP of Marketing and Strategy. “Xbox One will be the biggest launch in the history of Xbox and we can’t wait to celebrate with our fans.”
Xbox One midnight launch events are planned for major cities worldwide, including London, New York City, Los Angeles, Berline, Paris, Vienna, Sao Paulo, Toronto and Sydney. Over 10,000 events are scheduled for Xbox One's midnight launch, with retail partners GAME, Tesco, EB Games, Best Buy, FNAC and others all getting in on the act.
It all kicks off in Auckland, New Zealand where a 'Midnight Madness' event hosted in partnership with EB Games will get the party started with DJs and a chance to win a console at the Shed 10 venue. Shortly after, things will get underway at Sydney Harbour, before Central London, Central Paris, Berlin and Madrid enjoy midnight launches of their own.
Toronto will then play host to midnight launches and the "ultimate midnight celebration" will take place in New York's Times Square, with zombies, Roman centurions and supercars converging upon the Best Buy Theatre. Stallion83 will also be in attendance as he closes in on his 1 million Gamerscore goal.
Milk Studios in Los Angeles will also be home to Xbox One's midnight launch, with the first 500 people to purchase an Xbox One or Xbox One game getting to enjoy an exclusive concert with Deadmau5.
The Xbox One midnight launch celebrations will be showcased live on Spike TV, beginning at 11 pm ET/8 pm PT on Xbox.com and on Xbox Live.
