Fallout 4 Speculation Ignites Once More as Mysterious Teaser Site Emerges
Written Friday, November 15, 2013 By Richard Walker

Speculation surrounding an impending Fallout 4 announcement has surfaced again due to the discovery of a new mysterious teaser site at ''. What's adding fuel to the fire is that 'The Survivor 2299' is a listing registered by Zenimax Inc., parent company of Fallout and Elder Scrolls developer Bethesda Softworks.

Users on a Reddit thread have managed to decipher the morse code playing on the site, which is also home to a countdown timer. Both point towards December 11th, 2013, which also happens to be around the time the Spike VGA Awards are scheduled to take place.

Another Reddit thread believes the site to be a hoax however, noting that the domain was registered in Poland, rather than in Maryland, Washington DC where the developer is based.

Previous rumours have claimed that Fallout 4 will be set in Boston, Massachusetts and earlier this year the voice actor who plays Three Dog also hinted at a Fallout sequel. This one will run and run, it seems... Watch this space.

I really hope this is legit and not just some random person just screwing around. If it's on the Xbox One, which I hope it is, I bet it will look great and be massive.

This would be amazballs. I want to go and play some Fallout 3 now. But I'll probably really enjoy it more in the run up to a release date. Either way, I don't mind where its set, what the story is, I just want there to be a Fallout 4. Bring on the wasteland.

Fabulous. Fallout 3 and New vegas are among my favourite games of all time.. And i've played hundreds of games over the years. Sure they don't have the best graphics but they're just so damn addictive. Next gen fallout will look so goddamn amazing. I love exploring the wasteland and meeting wacky characters and creatures

I as a gamer would say such a thing. Singleplayer games get old fast now a days, you beat it once and your done, or you play it again and you know 70% of what to expect, co op makes everygame fun even if the game is bad. Being able to play a game with your friend, family member, internet friend makes gaming so much better. So yeah I said it would be amazing if it had co op, did I say the game will be bad with out it? No.

@26 Actually I prefered New Vegas...And I'm not lying to myself. Yes it was buggy, it had flaws and all...but Fallout 3 too. And if you're one of those who say that 3 is better than New Vegas just because of the main plot (which is way better in 3, I admit), then 5% of the game is not really relevant when you compare two games.

OT : I'm as eager as everyone here to see an announcement for Fallout 4. It's been too long since I had my last Fallout injection.

I don't think New Vegas was bad, but Fallout 3 was light-years better. Fallout 3's all around story was way better. The environment of the Capital Wastelands was way better than the southwestern deserts of New Vegas. There were more memorable characters in Fallout 3 than New Vegas. There were more memorable and detailed locations in Fallout 3 than New Vegas.

The only thing I give to New Vegas is that the DLC for New Vegas was all-around better than the DLC for Fallout 3, as the DLC fixed the things that New Vegas itself did wrong in the first place.

In any case, Fallout 3 was way better just in its world alone: Megaton, Rivet City, Citadel, Little Lamplight, Paradise Falls, Tenpenny Tower, not to mention the DC-area itself, among lots of other places that were interesting like Oasis and the Republic of Dave. Daaaaaaave!

New Vegas was disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I still had fun playing--but the Khans sucked, the NCR was okay, Caesar's Legion was okay, and the Boomers were boring. Primm, Goodsprings, and Novac were all little interesting places to be but they didn't have much in the long run (except for like Boone in Novac).

That pretty much covers the main areas in New Vegas except for Vegas itself, which of course is awesome. But that was a letdown too. You can run through the entirety of Vegas in like 3 to 4 minutes. The rest of "Vegas" are just slums that have no remnants of being part of Vegas.

Apparently, it's been flagged as "probably a hoax" on /r/Games due to the fact that it was registered through GoDaddy and all of Bethesda's domains thus fair have been registered through CorporateDomains.

@35 I'm...don't know the word...While reading all you said, I agree with 99% of it, still, I had more fun playing Fallout New Vegas than the 3rd one. So I'll guess that what killed my experience with Fallout 3 was not the content but the bugs. I bought it on PS3 when it came out, and it was the first game that made my console froze. And it froze a lot(more than one freeze every hour). If you add to that the fact that some quest characters were missing (actually I discovered them later when I sold the PS3 version for the Xbox 360 version), that some props were disappearing in front of me...I guess that's why I took less pleasure with the 3rd. As a compensation, I bought New Vegas on 360 and never had in three complete playthrough a single bug/freeze...That must be why I prefer New Vegas. It's stupid and not objective, but it's the way it is...

That's completely counter-intuitive. Not necessarily your reasoning, but your experience.

There were like 1000 bugs with New Vegas, and Fallout 3 did not have nearly as much. I virtually never had issues with Fallout 3 besides my character getting stuck somewhere a couple times, but New Vegas crashed my console and froze, had all sorts of weird model issues, etc.

There was a total shit-storm about people's glitches in New Vegas. So for you to have just the opposite happen... Uhh, hmm...

@42 Everything you said is based on your opinion which does not make it correct, doesn't make it wrong either though since opinions are never right or wrong, they just are. People have different tastes. If everyone liked the exact same thing then we'd have nothing but COD and the exact same sports games every year. As it is, thankfully, we're not limited to that. You didn't like Fallout, that's perfectly fine by me. I don't hate someone who likes a game I don't like. To do so is just incredibly pointless.

@43 I think you just got very lucky but keep in mind that you went from playing one game on one console to playing a different game on a different console.

I have both Fallout 3 and NV for the 360 and the PS3 and have had more system freezes with the PS3 versions of each. I would definitely recommend trying Fallout 3 on the 360 if you can, I think you'll enjoy it a lot more than when you played it on the PS3. Of course, given your experience with it on the PS3 I don't think it'd take much for you to enjoy it more lol.

Both are great games but Fallout 3 has that post-nuclear war feel to it. NV just feels like some generic run down town in a desert. Though the different weapons and combat mechanics NV introduced were pretty cool.

@58 As nice as that sounds, it just isn't plausable. Besides the handful of English speaking countries, the rest of them aren't multi-cultural. It wouldn't be nearly as fun seeing nothing but Indonisians or Japanese people running around. Not to mention if a nuclear fallout DID occur, half those countries would be dust considering their buildings have the structural fortitude of an ant mound..

@58 its understandable that the game would still be set in America because to create one outside would take a lot of research, picking a country and place for the setting and also cultural aspects as well. Not saying it can't be done though maybe one day they will create a game that shows how the rest of the world survived :) This is just my opinion though, looking forward to the new game.

Fallout's always been set in the continental US, except for Operation Anchorage (and I guess Mothership Zeta counts just the same). I don't see them going outside the US for anything but a DLC pack for a while.

And, sorry guys, but this looks like someone's pulling all of our chains. The "survivor" site seems to look for age verification, and the only piece of information I found was that the morse code sound file was named "bridgeport". Assuming that Boston is the setting, that means they're looking at encompassing three states in the game -- which is awesome, but unlikely. I think a genuine piece of marketing would have a little more going on with it. I dunno, it doesn't look good to me -- but I am hoping I'm wrong.
