That leaked bit of promotional artwork from last week was completely legitimate, as Warner Bros. has today officially announced LEGO The Hobbit, another instalment in TT Games' lovable LEGO video game series, this time based upon Peter Jackson's The Hobbit Trilogy, continuing in cinemas on December 13th, 2013 with The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.

LEGO The Hobbit will follow the story of the first two movies, having you complete quests in Middle-earth as characters including Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Thorin Oakenshield and his posse of dwarves; Fíli, Kíli, Óin, Glóin, Dwalin, Balin Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori and Ori. Your journey will take you through a variety of locations on the way to the Dwarven Kingdom of Erebor.

Other Middle-earth locations include  Bag End, Bilbo’s Hobbit-hole in Hobbiton, the treacherous High Pass over The Misty Mountains, and the dark depths of Goblin-town, Mirkwood and Rivendell. Promising puzzles, gem mining, loot, crafting, Treasure Quests, battles with Orcs, Trolls and other foul creatures, LEGO The Hobbit will be coming to Xbox 360 and Xbox One in spring 2014.

I loved LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. It is my 3rd best LEGO games to dated. Batman 2 is 1st and Star Wars 2 is 2nd. TT Games had made many good and few amazing LEGO games. Next year we will see 2 LEGO games. This one and LEGO The Movie. But I felt LEGO The Hobbit will be great and LEGO The Movie will be medicore or good either. You know most of movie based games always came downhill when released same time with movie released. So I unsure if LEGO The Movie will be good. We shall have wait and see for it. I believe LEGO The Hobbit will be good or above.

Now I'm reminded of another Hobbit game. I played that one on my PS2 for a bit back in 2004. I thought it was a nice platformer.

I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but some sites are reporting that this game will only cover the first two films of The Hobbit Trilogy. Boo if that's true.

The first two movies? They could not wait until they finished the trilogy? I mean they could have made Lego Batman 3 instead if they had nothing else.

So how are they going to pad out a second game when the 3rd movie finally releases, then?

Because if they try and do an Indy 2 with it, they can keep that shit.

Might hold off until there's some sort of complete edition. 2 out of 3 is just a pointless decision on their part.

I like or even love the lego games, but the sheer amount is getting a bit out of hand now.

Why wouldn't they just wait until the release of There and Back Again so they can do all three movies? After what happened with LEGO Indy, I'll wait for the second Hobbit game that'll include all three movies like a few others have said they'll do.

Exactly! Why don't they just wait until the trilogy is completed? Seems a bit premature for them to be doing this.

So they're going to release The Lego Movie Video Game in February 2014 and then The Hobbit, Part 1 a couple of months later? I wonder what's in store for us for Fall 2014...? It is possible they'll release a third game; they did it in 2011 with Pirates, The Clone Wars and Potter 5-7.

Hmmm ..... my thoughts on this,

- I love LEGO games.
- I loved the LOTR LEGO game.
- I love the idea of Hobbit LEGO game.

- I'm not liking the idea of 2 movies = 1 game and 3rd movie = 1 game. :/

Wait and see I guess. Can't wait to see the Hobbit: tdos!! :)

As far as TT Games releasing a complete version, I wouldn't hold my breath.

So far, the only games in the series they've combined are the first 2 Star Wars games.

They should've just re-tooled LEGO Indy with 6 new levels, but no, we got LEGO Indy 2, arguably the worst of the LEGO game series. TT Games still has not combined these.

Harry Potter is still two games: Years 1-4 and 5-7. As far as I'm aware, TT Games have never even entertained the idea of making them one game.

So I highly doubt they'll combine the two Hobbit games.

@20 plus the only reason they did star wars in the first place was to get both on the then new consoles since 1 was on the previous generation and 2 was on this one

if 1 was on the same generation of consoles we likely wouldnt have gotten that either

@17 Don't you people understand??? The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobit: Desolation of Smaug aren't written by J.R.R. Tolkien whereas The Hobbit: There and Back Again most certainly is. Well, there's a big difference!

The third story is as important as the preceding two combined. Whoever disagrees is a blasphemist towards the mighty Tolkien himself.

What drugs are you on? The three movies are based on the one Hobbit written by Tolkien. So what if they gave them a sub title for the movies.

@24.

Not the same as you are, apparently.

The first Hobbit movie is mostly based on a movie script, Desolation of Smaug is based only shallowly on the book and There And Back Again is actually the one that has the vast majority of the stories of the book, entitled with the same name, THERE AND BACK AGAIN.

Favorite lego games were the first 2 star wars ones, got the complete saga as well I liked them so much. After that its Lego Marvel, the first game that i liked as much as lego SW. So I have good hope for lego hobbit, they seem to be back their best.

Agree with Lego Star trek, would be amazing. Whether its the old films, the new films or even 1 of the series (apart from enterprise) i think TT would do it proud.
