Microsoft is considering rebooting the cult original Xbox One title, Phantom Dust.
Released in 2004/5 and designed by Panzer Dragoon and Crimson Dragon creator Yukio Futatsugi, Phantom Dust is described as a pseudo-card-based action/strategy game.
None of the Xbox 360 Achievements team has played it, so we can’t offer our usual wise and informative expertise (ha!), but there’s a video below for those that are curious.
Speaking with Kotaku, Microsoft Studio boss Phil Spencer said that a reboot of the game has been discussed for Xbox One.
"Futatsugi just finished Crimson Dragon, and I'm proud of what he was able to do. We're talking to him about what we might want to do next with him,” said Spencer.
"There's some interest out there in some older [intellectual property]. Phantom Dust has come up around whether we would want to reboot that franchise. It's a discussion right now; there's nothing signed. But we're talking.
“It does seem like there's a lot of interest around that,” he added. “And we have a good long relationship with him and I think that would be good."
Spencer also says that a number of announced Japanese titles have been signed for Xbox One, games which will be revealed next year.
"We have signed some things in Japan that we haven't announced that we'll announce in... '14 so that people get to hear about support in Japan," he said.
These games will be "full Japanese games," not just small downloadable titles.
