That's just a ploy to get people to buy the X-box One sooner rather than later.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:06 PM
"Details coming later in 2014.” suggests that it's not even gonna happen this year.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:07 PM
@1. How is it? You could just wait until the first free game is available, then buy the One. I reckon it will be near the end of the year, with Fifa 14 as the first game.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:08 PM
I would gladly accept Games with Gold for Xbox One.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:10 PM
if it happens sooner rather than later guessing it will only be 1 game a month thats free for a whileMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:11 PM
You've got to admit that it's good strategy on Microsoft's part. They are aware, as are we all, that they are at a major disadvantage when it comes to sales against the price of the PS4. This news plus the upcoming price drop seems to me to be a half decent lure to get existing 360 users to part with their hard earned to buy an Xbox One. I'm not sure about this trade in and get $100 deal though. If they give an equivalent deal here in the UK, I think a few people might be tempted.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:11 PM
@1 Who's buying a next gen console solely for Games with Gold?Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:12 PM
@1. Really? Even if so, there's like 20 total games for X1. Let them have a lineup first. Hell, I'm thankful that they're even doing $5 off a different game every week as is.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:13 PM
I wonder if you would be able to buy them on the xbox website when they're free then download them when I finaly get an xboneMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:18 PM
Dont think my x1 memory will like thisMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:18 PM
There's no way they'll give away any of their games for free any time soon. They don't have enough. It's not like they even have lots of Arcade type games either. The only games they have available are still quite new and expensive.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:21 PM
How???????? if im right there is no games hardly - lying cheatsMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:23 PM
Maybe they are planning to make an indie game which is released that month free. I doubt it will be the case but there isn't the back catalogue at the moment but we know that there are a bunch of indie games suppose to be starting to come out this year. It would also be more competitive against PS+.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:23 PM
probably be something like FIFA or Madden at or about the same time the next yrs comes out.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:31 PM
@12: Even if there was one single game on the system, they could offer it free. But, of course, there are currently 27 with four more coming this month.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:32 PM
"Details coming later in 2014".. Last week of december so. Probably be some crappy arcade game too.. Good to see ps+ members getting decent free games offers, latest bioshock, metro light and more this month alone.. sometimes i think i should forget about the xbox and go to playstation.. im just used to the xbox though, would like for them not to be so cheap and such liers all the time.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:34 PM
Sony's given away Resogun and Outlast and we haven't had shit so far. I'm so tired of this company. £100 more for some piece of crap camera that nobody wants and they're still squeezing every last penny off us. Makes me sick.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:35 PM
@9 As clever as that sounds, I don't believe there's currently a way to access XB1 content except on the console itself.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:36 PM
@10 I agree with you when will they allow us to have more memory?Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:37 PM
What the hell is wrong with Microsoft? They have to stop this bullshit. "later in 2014". Yeah, that means at least 6 months. They need to get their shit together.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:47 PM
Even if it aint till nearer the end of the year it still means at the LATEST the games they are giving away free are no more than a year old, at least at first anyhows. All in all i think this is awesome. People who nab an xbone for xmas 2014 will be able to start building up a library of games from the offset showing those who waited will ideally get the console cheaper as well as a couple of games free every month.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:50 PM
I think people are misreading the article. The tweet from Major Nelson was from months ago (the one where he says "later in 2014") - the newest tweet is from Phil Spencer ("fairly soon") - so while "fairly soon" in Microsoft terms could be days or weeks, it won't be in Q4 or anything silly like that. Ease up, guys. I feel like it's the cool thing these days to hate on the One and Microsoft in general. It really is a great product. Definitely has a few flaws (party system, etc) but there are already updates in the works (rumored March) to fix a lot of things, and the console is so young it is really irresponsible to pass judgement on it.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:52 PM
I've already bought and played pretty much all of them that I would bother with so I wouldn't mind waiting a bit in hopes of gettin something I hadn't played or maybe even have dlc given away. Mostly I'd like an either or option or the giveaway going to a vote on the dashboardMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:53 PM
@22 thank you I was wondering what people were saying later in 2014 for. and yea the hate train right now is anything Microsoft or one relatedMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:57 PM
That's good for those who can afford an Xbox one. But how about some more games for the Xbox 360 that people actually play? How about Gears of War Judgement or Dead Space 3? Or Maybe Skyrim? I'm tired of all the Games with Gold games being arcade games.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:58 PM
Halo spartan assault plz I'm poor! ;)Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 12:59 PM
@22 That's the truth! Everyone hates on the xbox one no reason. What's so bad with this system that you have to act like....oh if you buy this your the stupidest person in the world...like real? This console is fucking amazing! Wait till fall this year. There's going to be games that you never knew could be made.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:04 PM
Dead Rising 3's last update was 13GB. I Imagine these digital games will be more than that on the xbox one. A 500 GB hard drive won't be lasting long. Have fun regularly deleting old saves and DLC in a few months, guys. Step up your game microsoft. Updates and games don't need to take up that much space.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:06 PM
@25: Through the end of this month there will have been nine retail games and nine arcade games. So no, they obviously haven't all been arcade games. :)Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:07 PM
I think some of you are gettin carried away, nobody is really having a go at the xbox one.. its more to do with the cheap/crap offers ms give us compare to sony on the playstation, oh and ps thanks for the thumbs down guys (#16).. i even disliked it myself to get the ball rolling for yous, thats what i get for speaking the truth.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:09 PM
@28 the update was different as it didn't take any extra hard drive space and its not just Microsoft either its sony as well sense there is no size limit they do not have to compress files as that costs extra time and development, and as much as you think you cannot save games the majority of people only play 1 to 2 games at a time then move on and never touch that game again or once and awhile will dig it out. At that point does it really hurt to reinstall the title?Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:11 PM
just waith until E3.they wil tell us then.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:12 PM
People may also be forgetting that one of the first updates we will get will be for external storage. You can get a 1TB external drive for like $70 if storage is really an issue for you.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:12 PM
Microsoft offers free stuff, people still cry about it. We aren't we all ungrateful c**ts..?!Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:13 PM
Can we just have one of these articles without some bonehead/s mentioning PS+ or Sony?Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:17 PM
Of course it won't start till next January. As they need the games to be at least a year old till they start giving them awayMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:19 PM
@22 The general consensus of all staff on this website - Don't hate on Microsoft when they make terrible decisions. Only praise is welcome here. Try being journalists. The amount of hate they got after e3 and they're STILL doing business the same. "Oh, here you go, here's some 3 dollar arcade game that nobody wants". They're incredibly lucky they still have their deluded fan boys who will defend their every move.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:20 PM
I think a lot of these kids on here just need a warm bottle and have their mommy's tuck them into bed.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:32 PM
@16 just because they are good and recent doesn't mean it's a great deal. I can pick up both those games for £20 and still sell them later. And most people would have played both of those games. Go run off to PS, but I tell you, the grass ain't greener. NEVER play my PS3, ALWAYS playing my 360.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:36 PM
I'm happy with my xbox one with or without games for gold. Its a nice bonus but most of the 360 offerings i already own. If i want a game i buy it these days.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:38 PM
I have been a log supporter of Microsoft and Xbox, but this GWG is a sad attempt of trying to match PS+. 2, soon to be 3 older games a month on XBox compared to 6-8 new (and very good) games a month on PS, and it costs you less per year for the subscription. They are even releasing their 4th PS4 game for free this week. IMO, the Xbox beat PS2 during it's time and the 360 killed the PS3, but now with this gen I am so glad I switched over. PS4 & PS+ = Better price, better system, better fan service and even a better network (huge improvement over PS3)Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:52 PM
How can they have Games With Gold on Xbox One? There aren't any games that are 5-7 years old yet.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 01:55 PM
I think the concept is good but I think they need to work on getting the gig size of the games to be a lot smaller. I think it is awful to have to use 20 to 40 gig per gameMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:01 PM
Can't wait for this. Fingers crossed. I would say end of this year at the earliest as there are too few games at the moment.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:04 PM
Great news, it'll have to start at least next year though, we need more games to start with before this happens. Good to know its till happening though.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:16 PM
I find it hard to argue with people who don't even tie their gamertag to their account. It just makes then have the appearance that they don't even own the system they are trolling about. Skipping over those posts for now on will do wonders.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:20 PM
Jesus....all the cynics and Debbie Downers in here are fuckin annoying.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:26 PM
ORRRRRR they figured out how to make the X1 backwards compatible using the cloud(PS4 has announced they will have it for PlayStation Now this summer, although it's only for PS1 and PS2 they are headed in the right direction with it) and will be offering the same games as the 360... TBH I just want backward compatibility... Love the new controller...Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:32 PM
That's why i only bought 2 games for the One because i knew this was coming sooner or later.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:32 PM
@35 its human nature to compare.. and try to get the most/best for your money, and MICROSOFT & SONY are always gonna be compared with each other... and as much as it pains me to say it you get so much more for your money with sony,... without having to wait for fixes and to constantly be told, don't worry we are working on it.... I never thought I would find myself in sonys corner cos I am a life long xbox fan and I will never ditch xbox, but at the min... SONY JUST WORKS....Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:44 PM
Hey, give them time! They gotta wait until there's some old Xbox One game everyone has or is worth less than an Xbox Gold subscription cost so they can give it away for "free".Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:46 PM
@45 Doesn't the PS4 also has a small library of games though? That's weird. We won't see GWG on the One till 2019 when all of games are completely irrelevant and cheap.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:47 PM
@41 your really going to knock on MS for doing games with gold just because Sony started giving away games first? What about Sonys trophy system? Straight up copied MS achievement system, even copied each achievement. People complain when they like something Sony does better and then complain when MS tries to do the same. Games with good has been getting better and at least you get to keep what download with Xbox, if you can't afford to renew your PS+ for a few weeks you won't be passing the time playing any of your free PS+ games.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:49 PM
@25 entitled much?Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:51 PM
I really don't get all the whining I was paying for Xbox live when you didn't get anything! They start giving away games without increasing the subscription and the trolls roll out like it's Mordor ffs. So you got an arcade title, what can't they be fun and entertaining? And even if it's an undeniable steamer it's not like it's cost you anything at all. If this bugs you so very much switch to PS and start clogging up their forums with your half baked criticisms...rant overMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:56 PM
@25 lol, asks for more games people actually play then the first one on the list is GoW:J.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 02:57 PM
@41 why are you still here? Why don't you just fuck off if you love your playstation so much? And your talking shit too. It's £32 for 13 months of Gold versus £40 for 12 months of Plus. And the PS4 has a better Network?! Are you fucking kidding me? If I ever do decide to look on the PS store for something, it's ALWAYS down for maintenance. In fact I'm surprised anyone can even get on the store to download their free rentals (yes rentals) seeing as it's down so often.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 03:26 PM
It's going to be announced a lot later than sooner. Right now there are no games to be given out. Expect an announcement in November for release in 2015.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 03:49 PM
I would guess it starts at 2015, fair enoughMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 03:55 PM
@46 You need 5 forum posts to link a gamertag and the system is very unreliable. When most people enter their gamertag it just comes up with this white rectangle with a question mark in the middle.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 04:08 PM
Well nice of them to do, but unless they step up their game with those games, I expect to see something along Crimson Dragon and Lococycle being amongst the first free games LOL Been Gold subscriber for over 6 years and PS+ since it's beginning and I already got much more than Gold perks ever gave me... And on the side note, to ppl complaining about others mentioned PS+, they do it, because they game on both systems and have something to compare to. They probably, like me own both systems with premium subscription, and know exactly which give back way more. It's only a matter of time before MS starts giving out solid games for free though, their user base has been dwindling ever since E3 last year and it won't stop anytime soon. Stop defending MS like they are your greatest friends. How can anyone deny having Bishock Infinite, Metro:Last Light and others being way better offering than Dead Island and Toy Soldiers? And that's just this months comparison...Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 04:22 PM
@62 Thank you. There are actually some folks here that don't talk that non-sense. I hate when both Sony and Microsoft fans do that. I can say a bunch of things about both of them that are negative. However, we're focusing on the positive. I won't knock GWG because MS is trying. However, for those trying to compare Plus with GWG...you simply can't. One is definitely better than the other and that's Plus. Still MS is doing well by getting better with it. Obviously I have both systems and I enjoy them both. Branding loyalty to one console/company suits you no justice. Just play the games!Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 04:41 PM
For all the PS+ lovers get off of here and go over to the trophies site so you can suck the tit of Sony there. I agree the at the games don't compare with Bioshock, but big name titles mean that a lot of people spent money to buy them when they came out. who cares if its free for a time(remember plusers if you can't pay for the subscription you lose your game). Dead Island and Sleeping dogs are both good games that many may have overlooked and now can own (yes actually own) them. I own both ps3 and x360 and only ever used the + when it was given to me for free because Sony let there network get hacked and info stolen. This is a new system and in the end xbox will become better then the PS4.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 04:48 PM
This should turn into the same sort of thing the ps4's doing with playstation plus, with the instant game collection. By no means is it a bad thing, its just that honestly, they've taken their time to sort something out.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 05:00 PM
Maybe they will do it similar to Playstation plus. We get newer games, but only keep them as long as our subscription is active. We pay for the service regardless of free games, so it would be nice to get some newer titles.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 05:20 PM
it will be different for XB1, because of the lack of games so far they cant just dish out every launch title, i believe most of the games will be indie developed games to start with which you will get free, and then i also believe they will do a large scale MMO or something that will run in line with games with gold, sorta a F2P with microtransactions, out of the launch titles though dead rising and ryse will be the 2 free games they push out as the starting promotion.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 05:34 PM
Only poor people complain about consoles. The rest of us just buy all of them.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 05:47 PM
Damn need a friend who has a xbone so I can get freebiesMonday, February 03, 2014 @ 06:44 PM
Guessing the details will be revealed at E3Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 06:49 PM
@ 25 SEND ME YOUR ADDRESS AND ILL GIVE YA MY GOW JUDGEMENT.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 06:57 PM
It could just be a ploy like a few people said but I don't think so. They may just find a way to port over some games from the 360 and offer those as the games for gold you never know.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 10:07 PM
Nice, more free games. Who can complain about getting stuff that usually costs money for absolutely nothing? Oh wait... apparently lots of people.Monday, February 03, 2014 @ 10:14 PM
A lot more games need to come out on the XBOX One before this would be something they would want to implement.Tuesday, February 04, 2014 @ 01:57 AM
@33 - Haven't seen anything concrete about that yet - as well as 3D support, External HD support, MP3 support.... not here and not from MS. So we're "forgetting" nothing. The machine is still in BETA stage and we're the paying testers. If they started giving away games free that I'd paid full price for in the last 6 months I would be pissed - especially since the majority of the AAA titles are still riddles with bugs. I'm willing to bet that by the 22rd of February they will still have multiple issues. That's not three months of playing, that's three months of putting up with MS and developers BS. That needs to be equated for. This should be implemented in 2015 minimum.Tuesday, February 04, 2014 @ 02:23 AM
Not one game given so far on XBlive Gold = DC Universe free online with PSN+. And that's a Fact Jack!Tuesday, February 04, 2014 @ 02:37 AM
Honestly, if the game has achievements I don't really care. :pTuesday, February 04, 2014 @ 04:58 AM
It is a little sad how people complain about free things when it comes to Microsoft. Everyone expects something for nothing and complain when they have to pay for a legitimate product. Xbox One is easily the superior next gen. I have both. I have not turned on my PS4 in over a month. Xbox is on everyday. Kids use it, wife talks to it like its a person(weird....40 year old woman saying "thank you Xbox). The games are far superior. DR3 and Ryse blow all the competition away. Not even counting Forza. Xbox gets hate becayse PS+ did it before them. Guess what....Microsoft is LISTENING to its consumers and adapting to what WE want. @75: Try Beta Testing a Steam Engine....Xbox is a much more polished product than a Beta product. Want to borrow my POS Google Glass? They suck and are only three months old. Still @75: Riddled with bugs? I call BS... I have played nearly every AAA title so far and at worst they had minor bugs. The games are still hands down better than the release version for 360.Tuesday, February 04, 2014 @ 07:55 PM
"Why don't you just fuck off" #57 is so mad, typing f-bombs and shitThursday, February 06, 2014 @ 05:07 PM
Why does it not surprise me people are complaining about getting FREE games from MS? The X1 is a great console, I have it since day one, no problems and runs all the time. The only game I know on it that has issues is BF4, but, I stillplay that. Any game they give for free would be awesome. I have never touched a Ps3/4 and wont, I dont like their dashboards and I have always been an MS kind of guy. Does that make me a fanboy? Well golly, I guess so, but I dont drink the kool aid. I am open minded about the X1 and honestly, dont see any issues with it.. The best console ever in my opinion..Thursday, February 13, 2014 @ 04:14 PM
@ 57 & all who are brain-dead Fanboys: Fact: PS4 is a better more powerful console than Xbone for less money. Fact: PSN+ is NOW equal if not better & offers more free games than XboxGold "for less money." I know because, I now own a PS4 with a PSN+membership. :) I was going to wait until later this year but realized might as well get the PS4 now because, I'm certain I'll never own a Xbone. There is no going back to playing games on my 360 after seeing the difference in graphics on PS4 with Tomb Raider Definitive Edition alone. You Fanboys need to realize something about people that continue to get on here & post things about how much PSN & PS4 has better this & that compared to Xbox, We where Xbox fans. "WHERE Xbox FANS!" No-matter what you say about Xbox now listening to its fans is compared to Sony always listening to theirs! If anyone does'nt realize this fact then they are the one's who need to "Fuck Off" so you say! This is a competition & Sony is winning! Sadly I can only see any Microsoft exclusive game from here on as less than what it could have been if ported for the PS4.Friday, February 14, 2014 @ 08:24 PM
as Allen responded I am in shock that any body able to earn $6783 in a few weeks on the computer . go to the website http://www.jobs64.com

Microsoft is preparing to roll out Games with Gold for Xbox One.
That’s if a tease by Phil Spencer is anything to go by. Responding to an enquiry on Twitter about when the service will start, the head of Microsoft Studios said that the, “Answer to this will be coming fairly soon.”
It follows Xbox Live’s director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, who last year said that the free games for subscribers service will be coming to Microsoft’s new console.
“Great news,” tweeted Hyrb. “Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on #XboxOne – Details coming later in 2014.”
Looks like those details could be arriving in the near future.
Oh, and in case you missed it. February’s Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles are Dead Island and Toy Soldiers: Cold War. More through here.
