The Ryse: Son of Rome sale on Xbox Live represents an experiment by Microsoft to offer improved deals on digital Xbox One content.
That’s according to Xbox studio manager Mike Ybarra, who tweeted that the temporary price drop is a response to player feedback.
"Lot of people asked for better deals on our digital marketplace," said Ybarra, "So we're testing some… and 2/18 through 2/24 you can get Ryse: Son of Rome off digital marketplace for $39.99! Special deal on add ons starts 2/25."
"That's far better than the used price at GameStop and others! Go digital!”
In the UK, Ybarra has announced the sale price for Ryse as £34.99, "as confirmed with Marketing group."
The move follows Major Nelson’s recent statement on Reddit that more competitive pricing for digital content “is indeed on the agenda.” We welcome the move. We also fear for our hard drives.
