Microsoft passing on PS4-exclusive Rime was a "mistake" Microsoft's Phil Spencer has admitted, in light of documents obtained by VG Leaks that show developer Tequila Works (who also made Deadlight for XBLA) pitched the game as an Xbox One exclusive under the title 'Echoes of Siren'.
As a result of Microsoft's dismissal of the game, the team approached Sony, who duly snapped up the title for PS4. A game in which you explore a mysterious, dreamlike island, Rime is somewhat reminiscent of ICO, with a colourful and vibrant art style.
Asked why he rejected Rime on Twitter, Phil Spencer responded: "Part of job is living with mistakes. Passed on Guitar Hero...I can list many misses regretfully. I try to focus on what we did ship." Told by another Twitter user that Xbox is sorely missing titles like Rime, Spencer replied: "We'll miss some, nature of the beast, it's why I don't hate when games ship elsewhere. Cool to see team's idea turn in2 great game."
Announced at last year's Gamescom, Rime will be launching exclusively on PS4.
