Ryse: Son of Rome's SmartGlass Challenge Editor Scrapped

Crytek and Microsoft had planned to incorporate a Challenge Editor into Ryse: Son of Rome's solo and co-op multiplayer Gladiator Mode, but those plans have since been nixed. This is thanks in no small part to the game's reviews, which by and large haven't been particularly glowing (except for ours. We rather liked it).
Set to utilise the Ryse SmartGlass companion, the Challenge Editor would have allowed users to create custom co-op multiplayer map challenges and objectives to share with other players. The more people who played your maps, the more rewards you'd have reaped as a result. Now that's all in the proverbial bin.
"After careful consideration, we have decided to cease development on Ryse: Son of Rome's challenge editor and focus on improving and expanding fans' experience with the game through both free content updates and purchased add-on packs," a Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon. "We look forward to sharing more details soon."
Next up for Ryse: Son of Rome is the Mars' Chosen Pack DLC for multiplayer, which adds five new maps, a new mode and a new character skin for $8.99. It'll be out on February 28th. Ryse: Son of Rome s also currently available via the Xbox Games Store for £34.99/$39.99.
