Double Fine is teaming up with Midnight City for Costume Quest 2, a sequel to the 2010 XBLA game published by THQ. Double Fine's Tim Schafer revealed the news in the latest episode of IGN's Up at Noon.
“I saw [a Costume Quest sequel] more as a demand, I don’t know that I had much choice in the matter,” Schafer joked. “It is that game, you can’t slip that schedule, It’s the kind of game you always want to revisit, there’s such a great core to it”.
The rights to both Costume Quest and Stacking transfered to Double Fine following THQ's demise, with distribution rights also acquired from Nordic Games, who picked up a selection of THQ's assets last year.
Costume Quest tells the story of twins Reynold and Wren who take on the powers of their Halloween costumes, and the duo are also set to star in the forthcoming sequel.
As well as bringing Costume Quest 2 to consoles in time for Halloween 2014, Midnight City is also planning to bring The Fullbright Company's lauded PC title Gone Home to unannounced consoles this fall. You can watch announcement trailers for both games below.
