Konami has announced that PES 2014 is to receive an injection of World Cup-style DLC, with the all-new World Challenge mode in which you can compete to win a new International Cup. The content will be launching next week, in time for the impending World Cup tournament in Brazil.

In the World Challenge mode, you'll be able to lead your international team or player to glory in the International Cup competition. 'Team' mode will enable you to select your international squad and their tactics, while 'Player' mode enables you to earn your place in an international side, earning selection through putting in the best possible match performance.

Featuring qualifying rounds as you take the road to the International Tournament, the World Challenge mode lets you set up friendly matches to recruit new talent, before entering the group and knockout stages. Separate qualification rounds for Europe, Africa, America and Asia are also included.

World Challenge will also boast new presentation touches and menus, with new squad details available to view and AI now causing players to respond to strong performances or suffer a decline in confidence following a poor show. New cut-scenes will also feature, as will the official Brazilian national squad and their likenesses.

PES 2014's World Challenge will be out the same day as the latest free patch, which adds nine new international teams, new boots and 60 player face updates. It'll also add the new adidas Brazuca ball and will offer smoother, improved gameplay and online anti-cheating measures.

You'll be able to pick up the PES 2014 World Challenge DLC for £7.99/$9.99 on March 26th. Check it out in the new trailer below.

  • Looks truly abysmal. Like PES.
  • Now, if FIFA 14 had done this instead of a full on new game (for last gen consoles only on top of that), I might care.....
