Signal Studios has confirmed that its working on a new Toy Soldiers game for Xbox One and PS4, having acquired the rights to the franchise from Microsoft.
The original Toy Soldiers released in 2010 on the Xbox Live Arcade, bringing strategical warfare to a battlefield inhabited by miniature toy soldiers, as the title suggests. Its 80s action-inspired sequel, Toy Soldiers: Cold War, followed in 2011.
The studio's Community Manager Becky Taylor confirmed the news, revealing that Signal is "currently working on a new Toy Soldiers game," with details on the new title expected to emerge later in the year, adding that a "rather large publisher" is also on board.
It's thought that IP from other games could be worked into the next-gen Toy Soldiers, as part of plans that involve "expanding the content that's in the game," according to Taylor. "We're super excited," she said. "It's our baby."
We'll have more on the next-gen Toy Soldiers title for Xbox One as it drops.
