Following the acquisition of Killer Instinct Xbox One and Strider developer Double Helix by Amazon last month, development duties on the Xbox One fighting title has been handed to Divekick studio, Iron Galaxy.
Iron Galaxy CEO Dave Lang declared the studio's passion for the game and the genre, something the team has been involved with on both Divekick and Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition.
"This is an amazing opportunity to work on a game and a genre we are super passionate about," Lang told Polygon. "Before we were ever talking about this, I was a fan of the game. And to get to now take it over and start with this great base, and expand it and put new stuff on top of it, everyone in the company is super pumped up, and we can't wait to show people what we're going to be doing down the road".
Double Helix has already finished up the first season of content for Killer Instinct on Xbox One with final character Fulgore to be released on April 9th. You can check out Fulgore in the new reveal trailer below.
Meanwhile, Iron Galaxy will be turning its attentions to Killer Instinct's second season of content. "It's been a privilege to work with our partners at Microsoft to help bring back Killer Instinct," said Double Helix in a statement. "Throughout production, we've been inspired by players and fans to make KI the best it can be. Now, we're excited to join that community, eager to see what the talented team at Iron Galaxy turns loose for season 2."
