Harmonix has “grand plans” to bring Rock Band and Dance Central to the new generation of consoles, says CEO Alex Rigopulos.
Speaking during a PAX East keynote address, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos said that while he wasn't announcing new entries to the two series, the studio plans to bring Rock Band and Dance Central to new consoles "at some point" and with "guns blazing."
Rigopulus’ comments echo his statement last year that the Rock Band franchise will return "at the right point in time."
However, don't get too excited just yet. Speaking on Twitter, Harmonix's Director of Publishing & PR John Drake said, "People writing that "HARMONIX IS BRINGING ROCK BAND BACK" as a takeaway from this talk are pretty willfully misrepresenting what was said."
So while Harmonix would seem to be at some stage of preperation for the franchise's return, it doesn't look like it will be soon.
In the meantime, Harmonix is currently working on a Kinect-powered, Disney-themed music game called Fantasia: Music Evolved for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
