EA has announced that microtransactions will be implemented in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare later this week, enabling players to pay real money for in-game currency, used to purchase sticker packs from the Sticker Shop.
These sticker packs unlock cosmetic customisation items, weapon upgrades, character pieces and more, and can also be bought using the coins you've earned by completing various tasks during matches. You'll now be able to skip all that and buy packs immediately.
“Players will be given the option to purchase coins from the Sticker Shop, which allows players the ability to access new packs and character content more quickly - all the same content that can be earned through regular gameplay,” PopCap's Brian Lindley explains on EA's official site.
“Now you have the choice to play your way; you can play to get new packs and content via earned coins in the game, or you can purchase coins to get more of the packs and content you want right away.”
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is out now for both Xbox One and Xbox 360.
