XBA Review: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Richard Walker

Spider-Man, Spider-Man. He does whatever a spider can, apparently. He can spin a web of any size, and capture thieves just like flies. Wow. We have something of a soft spot for the ol' web-head having read hundreds of comic books over the years, following his metamorphosis from mild-mannered teenager to proper Spidery badass.

Spidey's celluloid record is a little chequered, however, resulting in games that have often left something to be desired. Spider-Man 2 bucked the trend back in 2004 with a game that offered a solid recreation of New York City to websling around, showing that you can make a good game based on Marvel's most iconic character, and Beenox's 2012 Amazing Spider-Man game was also surprisingly decent.

Can the developer do it again with The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and make an open-world action romp worthy of the web-spinner? Or is this a spider that you'd be better off flushing down the plughole?
