Mojang has released a stack of details on Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, including confirmation of a release month, pricing and an upgrade deal for punters who already own the Xbox 360 Edition. Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be coming in August, and for a small fee, Xbox 360 Edition owners will be able to upgrade to the Xbox One version.
Promising "significantly bigger worlds and a greater draw distance", Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will also include all of the features from the most recent Xbox 360 title update, and you'll also be able to import all of your worlds from the Xbox 360 version to the Xbox One version, though you won't be able to transfer saves from Xbox One to Xbox 360. "We can make worlds bigger without too much stress, but shrinking them causes all kinds of problems," says Mojang.
Unfortunately, cross platform play won't be possible between Minecraft: Xbox One Edition and the Xbox 360 Edition, although "many" of the DLC skins and texture packs you've purchase will transfer across, save for the ones wrapped up in complicated licensing deals.
Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will be coming in August for $19.99. If you already have Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, you'll be able to upgrade for $4.99. This deal will be available for a "minimum" of a year.
