Criterion will announce a new game at E3 in Los Angeles next week, say the latest reports.

According to Game Trailers, the new game will be showing during EA’s press conference on Monday, alongside "world premieres [of] nearly a half-dozen new games".

Those expecting a new Burnout or Need for Speed game will probably be out of luck. Last year, Creative Director Alex Ward said, “After over a decade of making racing games it's time to make something new.”

In January, when it was announced that Ward and Studio Director Fiona Sperry have left EA, the publisher revealed that Criterion is working on a new title for next-gen consoles.

"The incredibly creative and talented team at Criterion are hard at work on a new project for next-gen consoles as new IP continues to be a major priority across EA,” said the statement.

“Matt Webster is leading development of the new game and the Criterion studio moving forward. Matt has been part of Criterion for years and has an exciting vision for this new game.”

All eyes on L.A. next week then. What do you reckon the game is gonna be?

  • Hopefully it'll be another open world sandbox game, I'm loving the fact they seem to becoming more frequent
  • Could really do with another Burnout however unlikely, I loved the both instalments on the 360 and new edition on the One would edge me closer to upgrading to next gen.
  • Most wanted my fave so Most wanted 2
  • A new Burnout Paradise would've been amazing :(
  • Burnout Paradise 2 would be what I want. New city and area, more insaine online challenges and the smashing if billboards and fences lol. It was the best arcade racing game I have ever played. And fav racing game of all time. We need another one on xbox 1. But like 2 said doubtful, but have fingers crossed.
  • Burnout paradise 2 all day long!!!
  • Need for Speed Underground 2 would have kicked ass.
  • Hey! How about Black 2! Yeah, that would be nice...
  • It'll be an adaptation of the movie Rubber, about a serial killing tyre.
  • Its gotta be a new Burnout. Its been ages since paradise.
  • Burnout or Need for Speed would've been my first guess ... after that, I have no idea.
  • Black 2. Please.
  • @7 NFS: Underground 2 already came out for PS2 a very long time ago. If would be NFS: Underground 3 and if you google NFS: Underground 3 you will see that in February of this year they said we may see this game at E3. I hope we do, cause it was by far the best out of all of the NFS
  • Im amazed so many of you are able to type anything at all, as clearly you cannot read. The 3td paragraph of this article makes it very clear that Criterion ARE NOT making a racing game, which in my opinion is a good thing since there hasn't been a decent Burnout game since Takedown and they should have left Most Wanted well alone.
  • It's clearly gonna be Star Wars Podracer.
  • If they at least make Burnout hope they do it properly this time...
  • Road Rash reboot, but they did mention before that they wanted to make a shooter
  • Did any of you actually read the article? They said they're not making a racing game.
  • Thank you @19, good to know someone else is paying attention.
  • Black 2 or Burnout Paradise 2 or new Burnout game where continue before Paradise without open world and whole game is standard.
  • If Black 2 is defo coming then will be nice Black 2 in 2016 because then Black returns in 10 years later since Black released in 2006 so Black's Anniversary. :P
  • It's mirrors edge 2. You guys are late
  • i would love to see black 2 being done, absolutely loved the first one on my ps2. gotta be one of my all time faves during that gen.
  • New Burnout please!
  • Probably another racing game with no variety and customization once again.
  • No no no no no. Old-school Burnout WITH crash mode!
  • Probably going to be Bulletstorm 2! I jest, racing-wise I'd love to see Rallisport Challenge 3 with help from DICE.
