The Division got some new details and some fresh gameplay footage during Ubisoft’s E3 2014 press conference last night. We already covered that. What we haven’t covered though, is the badass trailer that was also shown.

You can watch the the trailer below. It’s called Take Back New York and it has some cool time-lapse cityscape stuff, awesome looking bad dudes in masks, and a Christmas carol. It’s the holy trinity of most wanted trailer ingredients that I just made up.

"Tragedy has come to New York City," says the blurb. "It's hard to see something you love destroy itself and fall apart. But someone needs to be there to pick it up, to push back. Your purpose lies amongst all of this pain. You will have to fight, to save, to put it all back together. You are the hope of New York City."

"Witness the beginning of the devastating outbreak that brought New York to ruin. Things look bleak, but we haven't lost yet. There's still time to protect those that remain and bring order to a destroyed world."

The Division is out in February 2015. Additional content for the game will be released first for players on Xbox One.

  • Ubisoft took the video down. Sheesh that is a good way to get people interested in your game.
  • Ubisoft didn't take the trailer down, XBA is using their own channel to show it and it's been removed due to copyright etc. Below is the link to the trailer and it's the best thing I've seen trailer wise this E3! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPq_NVi-TC4
  • Thank for that. It is kinda ridiculous though to take it down from other sites because that helps boost their publicity but hey what do I know about marketing and copy right laws.
  • Erm, am I the only one not impressed by this? Sure, the idea with the time-lapse is nice, but the lofty, Hans Zimmer-y music, corny monologue, good ol' white American boys being the heros (again, and again in an European game, wtf Ubisoft?), all that makes me wanna puke. The ridiculous gameplay trailer could be a nice drinking game though: every time one of the douches in that video says "Guys" take a nip of Tequilla!
  • you may in fact be the only one not impressed, I can' wait for this game and i'm sure many others feel the same. and why does being European mean they can't use white people, most of Europe is pretty white... and if it makes you feel any better all the bad guys were white too so, ya know it evens out I guess?
  • @4 European game? What are you talking about man? Game takes place in New York City, New York, America. And don't forget, good ol American white boys helped save Europe during two world wars. Get over yourself. Fantastic trailer.
  • I will say however, New York has been in Enough games. If the game is going to be set in America, Lets see somewhere else in the America besides New York, LA, etc. .. Plenty of other locations.
  • #6 With European game I meant that Ubisoft is a french company (yes, the makers of AC, Far Cry, all the Splinter Cell games etc. are actually European). Same as with Rockstar. You would think the makers of Red Dead and GTA would be American, but no, they are Scottish (European)! Anyways, my point was all these great European developers should make games set in Europe (besides Assasins Creed), I get that GTA is big stinking middle finger to certain aspects of American culture, but come on guys, stand to your heritage!
  • Wondering where the Feb 2015 released are information came from? Super excited about this game but recent rumours suggest 2015 was hopeful. Please be true!
  • @8: I know that Ubisoft is French, however Rockstar is American, based in new York. Regardless, I do understand what you're saying. Like I said above, I'm tired of games in New York, LA, Miami, etc. . . If we're going to do a game in America, lets do a location that hasn't been done very often. Like somewhere in the Midwest. . . But I may be a little biased towards the Midwest.
  • That was literally the best Trailer I've seen in a very very long time. holy fuck.
  • problem with taking the story away from a big city like New York is that it lessens the impact, people known New York, even if you've never been there you know what it SHOULD look like. seeing it destroyed and deserted makes for a much bigger impact then seeing Eastnowhereville Kansas destroyed and deserted.
  • @ZingZitang: Sorry but no, get your facts straight! Rockstar the developer isn't American. Rockstar the distributor for North America is, though. SO what? All the 3D GTA (and Bully, and Manhunt and Red Dead) games were written, produced and directed by Sam and Dan Houser, 2 Scottish dudes living in London. I mean come on, Americans are great in many things, but sarcasm and self-irony are not a big strength of you guys (GTA being an example of a masterful parody). To say Rockstar is American is like saying The Dark Knight Trilogy by Chris Nolan is American, just saying...
  • #12 - And that's EXACTLY why games (even from European devs) are taking place in the USA. Globalisation of TV, Film and Games. EVERYONE on the planet knows how New York looks like (or at least knows how it looks in TV), can we say the same thing about Calcutta, or Madrid, or Moscow?
  • Just to clear things up, Rockstar IS an American company, which both develops AND publishes games and Rockstar NORTH is the British subsidiary of them, and the creators of GTA. They are American based, but lets face it, who REALLY wants to play GTA Glasgow...chasing Neds hopped up on Buckfast...I'm glad companies use cool places like NYC cause ive never been there and I love the immersion.
  • Not sure why everyone is gaga over cinematics. Last gameplay video didn't look all that exciting.
