"Do I Think That We Will Create a Dead Space Game Again? Yes,” Says EA

The Dead Space isn’t finished, EA continues to assert. And while there isn’t currently a Dead Space game in development, they’re not counting out a return at some point.

It’s hardly surprising. Dead Space creator Visceral Games currently has its hands full working on Battlefield Hardline and a new Star Wars game. But after that? Who knows.

"To the largest extent we can, we want to get the game teams to work on the things they want to work on themselves," EA Studios executive vice president Patrick Söderlund told Polygon at E3 2014. "There's an incredible amount of enthusiasm over Hardline and the Star Wars game at Visceral.”

"Do I think that we will create a Dead Space game again? Yes, I think so. But when we do so, we have to think about what made the previous ones successful and how we go about envisioning Dead Space for a new generation."

"Now, I'm not announcing a Dead Space game. We're not building one just to be very clear, but I'm saying is there an opportunity or possibility to do one in the future? Absolutely.”

  • Make it 70% like the first game and 30% like the second game. And 0% like the third game. ;)
  • Man...I'd love to see Visceral try to revive 1313.
  • From the DLC of DS3, (POSSIBLE SPOILWERS BELOW!) will Dead Space 4 really be in space? Won't it be 'Dead Earth'? I surely welcome a new game in the franchise but I don't see how it can be continued. And like Dirty130 said, EA needs to get back to what makes DS1 a success.
  • Please dont make it anything like the 3rd!!!! The 1st and 2nd games were amazing!
  • The 3rd was a good co op game but please make it single player xx
  • I'm no graphics junkie, but can you imagine how good Dead Space 4 would look on Xbox One 3 Christmas' from now?
  • I don't know, I think unless they don't introduce new alien enemies, I don't see how DS could be scary again. Big part of the psychological terror of the first was that you didn't know the enemies, the Necromorphs, the brutes etc. First time running away from the brute? Man that was brutal. But even in the second one the Necromorphs weren't that scary anymore, it was more of the same basically. So I really don't see a future for that franchise. But maybe I'm wrong
  • DS3 had moments that were as good as any in the series it just wasn't consistently good. I don't want a return of dead space 1's "true survival horror" turret sections.
  • Dead Space 4 must returns to Survival Horror form again since Dead Space 2. Dead Space 3 is good but gimmicky fully Action and that Franchise is not about and Franchise is about fully Survival Horror. Dead Space 4 should returns to SH form again just like DS 1 and 2. :)
  • I must have been the only person who actually liked ds3 I also loved the first 2 as well there just a different type of game than the third but that didnt stop me from enjoying the third. in my opinion thrre all awesome games just ds3 is good in a different way as its a different type of game
  • Dead Space 3 was a good game. But just not a good Dead Space game.
  • What made Dead Space 1 outstanding for me was that Isaac didn't say a single word in the game. That was a strong aspect of the whole "being alone"-Feeling. I have to agree with OptimusPrime987 - it was a good coop game. I always recommended other Gamers to grab a good friend and Play DS3 in coop - that made it a good game. I even go further and say that the DLC made it a better game. DS2 could have been as great as DS1 but the now talking Isaac made it not possible for me to have the same Feeling. Although I really liked DS2. Enough talking. Bring us another Dead Space game!
  • @2 I' have seen some dumb comments, but damn does that take the cake.
  • It's EA they will remake it at some point
  • @6, pretty shit compared to how it'd look on pc, lol. Take a step back from the disappointing mess that was DS3 and make something worthwhile again, that game had such nice potential… such disappointment… and also, get the fuck away from micro transactions.
  • @1 - You nailed it. Personally I thought DS2 was the better game, but I still like your 70/30 split. It's hard to explain.
  • If you make it...... I will come I love DeadSpace and really like Isaac's multi-faceted evolution throughout the games... though I have to agree with 99% of the fans, DS1 and DS2 summarize what I like about the DS series. Even though I played through the DS3 co op a ton of times, the third game was too far of a reach into action/big budget/sales expectations. I would like to see someone from EA say something along the lines of "not every game has to be the next blockbuster" ... If you make the DeadSpace game the fans want, it won't be a block buster, it should be prohibitively-scary... that is what I want from the next DeadSpace game. I want casual gamers to dislike it, I don't want it to be an "everything" game made for "everyone". DeadSpace fills a niche for me, and I want Visceral to continue filling that niche with more DeadSpace.
  • I would absolutely love to see Visceral continue Dead Space. But like what you guys have been saying more in the realm of DS1 & DS2. I really hope that Survival horror comes back to the consoles with some of the scary titles coming out this fall. It's my favorite genre and its been watered down/call of dutied for too long!!
