Evolve promises to be something of a monster hit upon its release this October, taking the simple concept of pitting four hunters against one monster in a game of asymmetrical co-op and competitive beast hunting. But did you know that Evolve is an idea that Turtle Rock had in the pipeline before Left 4 Dead?
Did you know that the developer had tried to make the game work on previous hardware, only to find that the team was having to make visual sacrifices and concessions to the gameplay? That's why Evolve is coming exclusively to the new wave of consoles and high-end PCs; to make the most of their increased power and heft.
There's also insights into monster designs, why going too weird with them can make monsters forgettable, and mixing and matching hunters and monsters. You'll find a whole load of other great Evolve info too, in our E3 interview with Turtle Rock Co-Founder and Evolve Art Director, Phil Robb.
Evolve is out on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in October 2014. You can get our E3 hands-on preview here.
