Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Flying Wild Hog have announced that it'll be putting its Wang in a box for the release of katana-wielding actioner Shadow Warrior on Xbox One and PS4 this September, with Majesco to distribute the game at retail.
Shadow Warrior is a reimagining of the 1997 "cult classic", which sees hero Lo Wang rising to the status of legend in comical fashion. Ordered by his employer, Zilla Enterprises, to locate and bring back a legendary blade, Lo Wang discovers that the weapon is linked to ancient gods from another realm, leading him into a battle for the world as it teeters on the edge of destruction. You'll be helped by banished spirit Hoji, as you utilise a combo of guns, blades, magic and wits to defeat the demons and banish them to the darkness.
“Shadow Warrior turns the 90’s nostalgia meter way up, delivering big guns, big blades and big attitude laced with humor,” says Majesco CEO Jesse Sutton. “This is a must have title for every kind of fan: those who loved the original game, FPS enthusiasts and players looking for a deep next gen experience at a legacy price point. We’re proud to partner with Devolver to bring this highly rated game to the console audience.”
Shadow Warrior is out in late-September 2014 on Xbox One and PS4 for a suggested price of $39.99. A launch date of September 23rd appears to be on the cards.
