As The Walking Dead Season Two awaits its final episode, Telltale Games confirmed at San Diego Comic Con this weekend, that it'll be returning for a third season. That presumably means another five episodes of zombie-related drama will be on the cards.

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and Telltale president Kevin Bruner announced the third season during a Comic Con panel, with Telltale tweeting the following: "Confirmed at ! @telltalegames President @kevbru & @RobertKirkman "There WILL be a 3rd season of ".

Beyond confirmation that there will be a third season of The Walking Dead, no further details were revealed. Season Two's penultimate, 'Amid the Ruins' launched last week, and Season Two will conclude with fifth and final episode, 'No Going Back', which has yet to be dated.

  • Awesome, and not surprising at all!!!
  • Good. I'm enjoying these games more than TV series at this point.
  • It's quite obvious that The Walking Dead is Telltale's flagship winning game. The story is dramatic and involving, which a lot of games don't pull you in as much as this type does.
  • never watched the tv show at all but decided to try the first episode of season 1 for free. hooked after that, never played a game which has left me in shock at so many points. latest episode was awesome. Well done telltale :D
  • never seen the appeal of these games its basically just point and click and to me thats not a game thats pretty much what beyond two souls is on ps3 just leaving the game to pretty much play its self. if im honest wish the series would just end now sick of hearing about it. also cant believe the first season won game of the year not being funny but if this is the time of stuff thats going to be winning game of the year in the future I think my time with gaming may be done
  • @5 Don't let the door hit you on the way out. The rest of us will be enjoying the awesome story. Not everything has to be a shooter, you know.
  • @6 couldnt agree more that not everything has to be a shooter but when a game has pretty much no gameplay to me its not a game it might as well be a dvd as your doing very little.
  • @7 if you don't like it thats fine but i think this one of the rare games that have a compelling story that give it replay ability, unlike Call of Duty where the story is just an afterthought or minecraft that is just a sandbox
  • @8 I dont see the replay value in it games like skyrim or borderlands anything with customization and different play through styles has replay value something where you click a different reponse which normally ends up with the same thing happening doesnt have replay value. seriously dont see peoples obsession with this its like the only way is essex in the sense that its shit but people cant get enough of it. I played episode 1 of the first season and I literally just played it for the 100 gamerscore and even though it was free I still found it a struggle to finish it. now if I cant get interested in a game when they give out a part of the game and some gamerscore for free then it aint very good. yes I guess it does have a fairly good story but if theres no game play to go with the story whats the point. if the last of us or halo was just point and click they would be crap. my point being if this is the way gaming is going where they go all out on the story and theres no actual game play in the game then honestly whats the point in it being a game as if theres no gameplay then how is it called a game. just hope this aint how games go or the games industry will become very boring.
  • Does anyone know if this or new stuff from the Wolf Among Us will be released on the One?
  • @8 i agree that if all games went this way they would all be boring and i don't consider it a game either, more of an interactive TV episode than anything but i enjoy playing it. it's just down to preference in gaming where you either love it or hate it
  • @11 agreed least you admit its not a game my problem is if I bought it I would have bought it as its classes as a game and would be very disappointed if I spent money on it as honestly I could get an interactive blu ray to get the same experience.
  • Sweet!
  • To be honest, TellTale would have been shooting themselves in the foot if they just left it at 2 seasons. Loved season 2 so far, and already eagerly awaiting episode 5.
  • Now just announce TWAU Season 2 and I'll be happy.
  • I'd like to see some news of the first two seasons coming to Xbox One on disc.
  • I just hope the Episodes are longer in Season 3 then in Season 2 they seem to be only the the gameplay Season 1's episodes brought us, but I've enjoyed Season 2 so far.
  • If Glenn dies this season I got hopes for the show....Otherwise this game is my outlet...Glad to hear there is third season on this game though.
  • I haven't played season 2 yet, I'm waiting for all the episodes to be out so I don't have to wait to play each one. I'm wishing I bought the season pass when it went on sale not that long ago, too late now. I'm glad to hear that there's going to be a season 3, something to look forward to in the future.
  • I LOVED Walking Dead S1 and TWAU - but season 2 has been a bit hit and miss for me and I'm really disappointed in how the games have turned out. When they first came out it was gripping and so difficult to make decisions because you thought every choice mattered. But it's now so painfully obvious that no choice you have made matters. If you compared my save file to anyone else's save file that has played from S1E1 through 400 days all the way through season 2, there would be NO difference in the storyline. No matter what character you choose to save in a certain episode, it always corrects itself by the next episode at the very latest. Bit disappointed as I feel this had so much potential, but in reality I am just pressing buttons to watch a show. A VERY good show, but not really a game anymore. :(
  • @12 I can respect the fact that you don't like these games, BUT you are wrong about this series and genre. It's a wonderful series and has garnered many industry awards.Did it take you until season 2 to decide you didn't like the series?Ep1 of season 1 was free after all.You also could have checked out YouTube. The Wolf Among Us is another gem. There aren't even that many point & clicks on the One and 360.At least with P&C's you get a break from the norm (market saturation). This genre isn't my favorite by a longshot, however, I'll play any game that appeals to me.
  • @10 Yes! :D
  • @9 You really think all the games industry is going in this direction? This is just one genre. Point and click games have been around for a long time and will hopefully continue to do so, especially one with the calibre of Monkey Island where you had to figure out puzzles etc... If you don't like it, don't buy it, there will still be plenty of other game types out there that continue to do well. The fact that Season 1 won game of the year just shows that a lot of gamers still appreciate a really well told story. Still hoping a lot of Devs take that on board for their games.
  • @5 and your other comments, the walking dead offers chances to fail/die ect. making it a game. Point and click is generally a genre that's been fairly dead for a while (other then mostly cheap quick buck games), this games come along and shown what can still be obtained from the genre. Is this the way all games are heading? Hell no, I'd absolutely love to see more emphasis on single player with games, but point and clicks are a separate genre that've been around for decades, it's nothing new, its just that several games have come along and shown that they're a great way to create a compelling story. I got absolutely hooked on season 1, ended up playing them all one after the other a few times, i know i will with this season after how much i enjoyed ep 1 (waiting for ep 5 to marathon), but this isn't a bad state of affairs for gaming at all, if anything, it's incredibly beneficial, showing just how much the story matters and how it can compel a player, to make others write better. The end of the day, your comments are over reactions, this game will be remembered in years to come for its story, how many current games can you honestly say will be that well remembered?
  • @12 I know what you mean, I love it, buts its not really a game its more of a story put into a game....if that even makes sense. clearly nobody in there right mind is going to sit there and play this over and over...for 200+ hours. its the story and the story alone that makes this game a beast! a lot of people now a days don't care about stories in games at all...not saying you don't, just saying in general. they just button mash through cut-scenes like nothing happens... its kinda sad that people do that but its there choice of enjoying the game... you guys can read what I was just talking about in the evolve game informer.
  • Imo S2 hasn't nearly been as good as S1. But I will definitely be looking forward to S3. Maybe it could be a few years in the future so Clem can be older and Rebecca's kid could be alittle older too. Also I'd like to see a DLC ep about Jane and her little sister.
  • This is good news. I also hope The Wolf Among Us gets a second season, seeing as it kinda ends on a cliffhanger. Now if they can just give a release date for Tale of Borderlands it will be perfect. I personally could give a hoot about the Game of Thrones one though.
  • Coming to Xbox one I hope...
  • @10 @16 @28 if u look into it already shows the the wolf among us and the walking dead series are coming to the xbox one even though its just the game of the year editions which include all the episodes but seeing how thats been announced already u know that the next season will be coming to it as well :-) its going to be both season of the walking dead and 400 days later out on october 14th for $30.00 each wolf among us out on november 18 hope it helps everyone out who was wondering...BTW i looked at gamestop.com to see the release info :-)
  • I'd rather a season two of the wolf among us to a season three of the walking dead. And it's be nice if they'd finish season two of the walking dead before starting in season three. Still waiting on episode 5 (yes I know episode 4 only came out last week but if they have time to begin production on the next game, they have time to finish production on this one).
